Tonight!

It's a decidedly new wave state of affairs at the Strangeways cave - from the indie-tinged sounds of Scotland's Altered Images, to the timelessly off-kilter sensibilities of LENE LOVICH (and much more besides).

Tiaryn - ‘Disco Dress’

Tiaryn is a transformative performer with a voice that moves effortlessly from ethereal to commanding.

Known for her distinctive blend of jazz-informed songwriting and magnetic stage presence, she has built a reputation as a captivating live act who commands attention the moment she steps on stage.

Recorded over three years, her debut solo album Disco Dress is a reflection of several distinctive moments in time, and the comfort and safety experienced when a supportive creative environment is provided – in this instance from producer Josh Barber in his renovated church studio in Mollinghip rural Victoria.

A Pastor’s daughter originally from Perth, there are spiritual elements within the sounds and themes of the record.

Accompanied by Tiaryn’s roots of jazz and soul, a dance of light, dark, sparkly and gentle exists with an intensity that can also challenge the listener, pulling them into deep reflection.

Eddy current suppression ring (official) - ‘In Light Of Recent Events’

Legendary Naarm/Melbourne band Eddy Current Suppression Ring’s first full length album in seven years, In Light Of Recent Events is the long-awaited follow-up to All In Good Time, which dropped in 2019, as well as their Shapes and Forms EP, which they surprise released last year.

Developed through weekly jams in their practice space, the record arrives off the back of a string of electrifying live shows around the country, including three feverishly attended dates here in Hobart earlier this year.

Come embrace the winter chill with classics from The Cult, CHRISTIAN DEATH and Screaming for Emily, plus the darkwave stylings of Saigon Blue Rain and industrial misery from Executive Slacks 💀

Stoner rock is what happens when mud becomes sentient, steals a stack of amplifiers, and declares war on hygiene. The entire genre sounds like a swamp having a psychotic episode. Riffs don’t glide, they sink, dragging themselves through waist deep mud like they’re trying to escape geological imprisonment. Every chord feels soaked in wet dirt and the smell of a basement carpet that hasn’t seen sunlight since 1993.

It's Volume 98 on The Lo' Sound and we're diving head first in to a giant pool of mud on Edge Radio 99.3FM. with music from bands; Mud Lung, Gallons Of Mud, Mudbath, Neon Mud, Mudfinger, Mud Valley, MinIsTrY of MUDD, The Electric Mud and MUDDY ORCHID to name a few.

from 8pm (AU EST) Saturday 30/5/26... Yeeeeuuwwww!!

Ecca Vandal – ‘Looking For People to Unfollow’’

Ecca Vandal, a seemingly sonic contradiction who draws inspiration from both Nina Simone and Fugazi, has released her Loma Vista Recordings debut Looking For People to Unfollow.

The album lands as the culmination of years of steady build - from a long run of festival stages and high-profile support slots to her recent Coachella debut and Deftones tour dates.

Anchored in punk, the record sees Vandal unapologetically revelling in her full creative powers.

The album’s polyglot influences reveal Ecca’s journey - elements of bhangra flutter up to squealing guitars, heavy crunch gives way to d-beat gives way to skaterock harmonics gives way to unabashed hardcore.
