DETSI Leadership Visit Strengthens Industry Collaboration

Fraser Coast Tourism & Events was pleased to host senior representatives from the Queensland Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI) including Deputy Director Generals Bridget Woods and Ben Klaassen during their recent visit to Hervey Bay and K'gari.🌴🌏

The visit provided a valuable opportunity for local tourism operators, government representatives and Traditional Owner organisations to come together and discuss key issues shaping the future of tourism in the region.

The program included industry roundtables in both Hervey Bay and K'gari, as well as a networking lunch hosted by FCTE for K'gari tourism operators.

Discussions focused on important topics including commercial activity agreements and permits, the K'gari Management Plan review, tourism opportunities, and strengthening collaboration between industry and government. 🤝🌿

The visit also enabled productive engagement with representatives from Fraser Coast Regional Council, the Butchulla Aboriginal Corporation (BAC) and the Butchulla Native Title Aboriginal Corporation (BNTAC), reinforcing a shared commitment to the sustainable growth and management of tourism across the Fraser Coast and K'gari.

A new set of wheels for Fraser Coast Tourism & Events and safe to say, she’s hard to miss! 🚙✨

Very excited to see our new Fraser Coast beast officially hit the road, bringing our destination brand to life wherever the journey takes us.

More than just a vehicle, it’s a moving showcase of what makes our region so special from our coastline and natural beauty to the unmistakable spirit of Queensland’s Fraser Coast.

A huge thank you to Dan and the team Hervey Bay Auto Group for helping us bring this one to life. We’re absolutely love the finished result!

Keep an eye out for us on the road “Wonder Lives Here”. 🌊🐋
