A single act of kindness can completely alter a person’s life, along with feeling worthy and seen can provide the hope needed for a better future.
Just 7 years old.
Sitting curled up on a chair in a building filled with office desks and chairs.
Strangers from one end to the other.
Waiting, not knowing.
Not knowing where she would be living, who would be feeding her, or who would keep her safe. Unsure where any of her, very minimal, items she owns are. Still in the same clothes from the day before.
Thankfully in this moment we were able to provide a suitcase of hope to this young person. The caseworker said the little girl instantly cuddled her soft toy and she saw a slight smile and sense of relief. Apparently she couldnt look through the clothes quick enough, the worker could tell she really wanted to put them on so gently offered to show her where the bathroom was to get changed if she wanted. The difference a new set of clothes made for this little girl was huge. She then sat busy playing with all the items whilst the caseworkers were able to continue finding a home for her. She quitely said, "Thank you" and added "it was the best present she had ever been given".
Of course she was still traumatised, scared, sad, and full of emotions. But, in that moment we were able to bring light amongst the darkness and in a small way remind her that people see her, she is loved, and she is worthy. I hope she carrys that message with her, deep within her heart.
This year more than ever we need more support so we can continue to meet the need out there. Every donation is appreciated and makes a difference. Wether it be an item donated or financial support, YOU CAN BE APART OF THE DIFFERENCE for these vulnerable children.
