LATEST UPDATE ON EASTERN CHEVRON ISLAND BRIDGE LIGHTS.
Since the previous update, unfortunately it has been necessary to make some adjustment to the project timeline although procurement activities have progressed.
City officers have confirmed that the sign design tender has now been successfully awarded and the project is moving into the concept design and review phase.
The project team, together with the City’s internal design team, have been working diligently on progressing the design while coordinating closely with key stakeholders, including bridge asset engineers, CCTV, and other relevant disciplines, to ensure an integrated and deliverable outcome.
The current program anticipates completion of the concept design and render for the sign by the end of July 2026, followed by a design review period in August.
Procurement of a Design and Construct contractor is scheduled shortly thereafter, with contract award expected toward the end of November 2026, with construction planned to commence in early 2027.
Timing will be carefully coordinated to avoid major events and peak periods, with the detailed construction program to be confirmed once the contractor is appointed. At this stage, project completion is targeted for mid-2027.
The scope of works remains unchanged and includes renewal of all electrical infrastructure, installation of new lighting to pedestrian handrails and delivery of new LED entry statement signage.
