🦞 WA'S BEST LOBSTER RESTAURANT 2026 – THE RESULTS ARE IN! 🦞

What a finish! This year's competition was the closest we've ever seen, with more than 2,000 valid votes cast and an incredible show of support for venues serving Western Rock Lobster across the state.

After weeks of passionate voting, we're excited to reveal your 2026 champions:

🥇 The Lobster Shack, Cervantes – FIRST PLACE
🥈 Southerly's Tavern & Restaurant, Port Denison (Dongara) – SECOND PLACE
🥉 The Cray Seafood & Grill, Currambine – THIRD PLACE

With more than 50 venues nominated from across Western Australia, this year's competition showcased the outstanding quality, creativity and passion behind our state's lobster dining experiences.

A huge congratulations to our top three winners and a heartfelt thank you to every venue that participated. Many embraced the competition by rallying their communities and promoting their nomination in-house, creating fantastic energy and helping make 2026 our biggest and most competitive year yet. The Lobster Shack will be presented with the inaugural perpetual trophy over the coming weeks, as well as their winners cup to put on display in their venue.

👏 Thank you to everyone who voted and supported their favourite local venue. Your enthusiasm continues to celebrate the incredible hospitality industry and the world-class Western Rock Lobster it proudly serves.

The race for WA's Best Lobster Restaurant 2026 is officially on, and with just 10 days remaining, we've already surpassed 2,200 public votes — making this our biggest competition yet!

Restaurants from across Western Australia have embraced the challenge, rallying their customers, showcasing incredible Western Rock Lobster dishes and competing for more than just bragging rights.

This year, for the first time, one venue will have the honour of lifting the inaugural WA's Best Lobster Restaurant Perpetual Trophy, with their name engraved into the competition's history and a place in a growing legacy celebrating excellence in lobster dining. 🦞🦞🦞

The energy, enthusiasm and support from participating venues has been outstanding — but there's still time for the leaderboard to change... and there are definitely newcomers this year, knocking at the door!

Due to forecast unsafe wind conditions, the Fremantle WA Day Festival scheduled for Monday 1 June has been cancelled. Which means, our Back of BBQ cannot take place, the safety of patrons, staff, volunteers and organisers is of the highest priority....HOWEVER....

Still buzzing from an incredible weekend at Flotsam & Jetsam (by Latitude Jewellers) ⚓🐙🌊

What a celebration of creativity, community and our marine environment.

Seeing marine debris collected from the Abrolhos Islands transformed into inspiring works of art was a powerful reminder that even what’s discarded can tell an important story.

The energy in Geraldton was something special, packed street, an unforgettable opening night, amazing local talent, and yes… that epic singalong 🎶🙌

In 2026, Western Rock Lobster was proud to be part of such an iconic regional WA event. What makes Flotsam & Jetsam so special is that it doesn’t just showcase art — it starts conversations about our coastline, ocean health and the role we all play in protecting it, and more importantly, brings community together in a wholesome and creative way!

This feels like just the beginning for WRL. We’re excited to keep building on this partnership and supporting initiatives that connect community, creativity and the ocean we all care about 🦞💙

🎣 FUTURE OF THE FISHERY 🎣

WRL recently delivered a pilot Work Experience Program, giving two Year 10 students from Kennedy Baptist College a rare behind-the-scenes look into WA’s Western Rock Lobster industry.

From time at sea with a commercial fisher, to lobster processing, fisheries science and sustainability research with DPIRD, the students experienced the industry from ocean to export. 🌊🦞

The program was designed to build awareness of future career pathways across fishing, science, policy, communications and processing, while strengthening community connection and understanding of sustainable fisheries management.

This initiative supports WRL’s commitment to developing the next generation of industry leaders and building long-term community trust in the fishery.
