We are seeking voice actors for our new and exciting audiobook pilot. The pilot is launching in 2027 with three amazing children’s books, and we’re after the perfect narrators to bring them to life for young listeners 📚

In this first call out, we’re looking for …

⭐ A First Nations narrator who can represent a fishing-mad, dog-loving, 11-year-old boy for Blu and the Lost Storm by Sabrina Dudgeon-Swift

⭐ Someone who can rock a good internal monologue for a boy braving the elements alone overnight for Penguin Peril by Deb Fitzpatrick

⭐ A First Nations reader who loves sharing stories with the young people in their life for Sunny & Shadow by Helen Milroy

We’re thrilled to announce that Greg Taylor has won the 2026 Hungerford Award for Wildlife of the Open Eucalyptus Forests! 🎉

Greg’s immersive collection of twenty-four narrative essays turns its attention to the creatures and critters of Australia’s open eucalypt forests. Grounded in scientific knowledge and close observation, it is a work of nature, empathy and hope 🌿

An ecologist specialising in the behavioural ecology of birds, Greg brings a lifetime of curiosity about the natural world to his writing. Greg has won a cash prize of $15,000, a publishing contract with Fremantle Press and a fellowship with the Centre for Stories ✨

Meet Tim, the newest member of the Fremantle Press team!

Tim is our Audio Production Assistant, and has already dived headfirst into the development of an exciting audiobook pilot and new series of podcasts. In fact, the books he’s holding are a sneak peek into the project 👀

The audiobook pilot will focus on accessibility and education by making local stories and our rich cultural heritage available to more listeners. The pilot launches in early 2027, but keep an eye out for exciting updates in the meantime 🎧✨
