😃You know what has us smiling this Saturday?

🎉It's Spectrum Migrant Resource Centre's 46th birthday!

Way back in 1980, we were founded by two deeply dedicated migrants to help Vietnamese migrants and refugees as they arrived in Melbourne. Over nearly half a century we've grown and now support multicultural migrant communities across Melbourne's entire north and west!

We're proud of earning the trust of our community, across Settlement, Family, Employment, Youth, Aged Care and Migration Services. And we're proud to walk this journey alongside our clients. In fact, many young adults who first used our Settlement programs are now members of our Aged Care services!

We have a lot to celebrate, but most important is YOU - our community. 💛

It's here! Spectrum's annual Seniors Fest event is coming!

If you are aged 65+, or care for a relative or friend who is - you're invited to join us for a special event for celebration, community and connection. Enjoy full catering, entertainment, and raffles, all in beautiful surrounds. Meet our Social Support Groups and find out more about support for carers, too.

This event is free, but places are very limited and will book out quickly - register today!

This week’s Saturday Smiles come from fun on the farm! We took our seniors Social Support Groups to Bundoora Park Farm to enjoy the sunshine, meeting up with friends from other groups, and of course - pats and cuddles with some furry friends!

Stay safe this long weekend - and reach out to us if you, or an older person you know, is ready to join a Social Support Group or find out more about receiving help around the home.

New multilingual pregnancy information resource

Understanding pregnancy care in Australia can be difficult, especially when information is not available in your preferred language.

Supported by the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, the Social Policy Group has developed a new multilingual resource to help women and families understand what to expect during pregnancy, including regular appointments, tests and vaccinations, and important actions that can help reduce the risk of stillbirth.

The resource is available in Amharic, Arabic, Burmese, English, French, Nepali, Persian, Swahili, Tamil, Tigrinya and Urdu.

It is designed to support community members directly, and can also be used by health, settlement, and community workers when sharing pregnancy information or supporting people to access care.

🙂This week's Saturday Smiles come from some wonderful men in our Social Support Groups! We celebrated Fathers Day together, and our Macedonian seniors group cleared the tables for some traditional folk dancing. 😉
