🙂This week's Saturday Smiles will 'bowl' you over 😃

Several of our Social Support Groups for seniors from Italian, Polish, Macedonian, Vietnamese and Assyrian communities, took to the lanes this week to go bowling!

In particular, our Polish group of seniors now proudly have their name up in lights: one of the team members now holds the highest score for her lane!

Today is Wear it Purple Day in Australia! This special date recognises the need for support, inclusion and encouragement for LGBTQIA+ young people to be who they are.

Although the rainbow colours of LGBTQIA+ communities become more visible each year, young people from them are still vulnerable to abuse, harassment, bullying and exclusion.

But all people deserve safety, welcome, and visibility. And Wear it Purple Day is a way of showing solidarity and courage to stand up for our LGBTQIA+ community members, especially young people. So today, we're taking a break from Spectrum yellow - to wear it purple!

Cooking was on the menu this week, with hand-made pasta, cashew biscuits and fresh kibbeh.

And a very special happy birthday (buon compleanno!) to Lucia, who also had a smile to accompany a delicious cake! 😁

💛Today is Aged Care Employee Appreciation Day!

We believe that nothing can replace the value of human care. And if you know an Aged Care employee, today is the day to celebrate them!🎉

Here's our CEO Rebecca Power, with a special message for our big network of incredible Spectrum Aged Care staff:

"I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributes to our aged care services. The work you do, whether directly with clients or behind the scenes, makes a meaningful difference every single day.

A special shout out must go to our support workers who provide direct care and support to older people in their homes and communities. Your role is about so much more than delivering services.

Through your kindness, patience, compassion, and genuine care, you help people maintain their independence, dignity, wellbeing, and connection to the things that matter most.

The relationships you build and the support you provide have a profound impact on the lives of the older people we serve.

I'd also like to acknowledge the incredible value of our social support programs. These groups create opportunities for friendship, laughter, connection, and joy. For many participants, they are a highlight of the week, providing a sense of belonging and helping to combat loneliness and social isolation.
