Humane Animal Rescue Australia

We exist to make sure every animal is cared for with compassion. Humane Animal Rescue was founded by two friends in Naarm.

After years fostering dogs and cats, we are here to offer an ethical, supportive and caring rescue for poochies, pussies and the people who save their lives.

🚨 OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM OUR FUN DEPARTMENT 🚨

The Fun Department has identified a concerning lack of things to chase, chew and violently shake. We are treating this matter with the utmost seriousness.

Our Paws & Provisions team needs more cat and dog toys for the packs we distribute to pets and their families in our community!

We are requesting assistance from the public.

Please send balls. And mice. The fake kind.

An official list of approved emergency supplies can be found on our Amazon Wishlist (link in bio) 🫡

✨AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION✨

Adele could never deliver a performance this powerful.

Patrick is sweet and loves a big cuddle. Don’t let that handsome face fool you though, because he’s approximately 70% silly goose 🦢

Think Patrick could be the one you’re looking for? 👀

Now THAT is a donation haul 😭💗

A huge thank you to Animal Rescue Cooperative (ARC) for this incredible donation of pet food and supplies!

Having essentials like these on hand helps us continue supporting pets and their people when they need it 🐾

We’re so grateful for the organisations that help make our work possible 💗

Better yet, every $20 ticket helps us continue supporting people and their pets through our rescue and community programs 🐾

🕺🕺 IT’S THE FIRST OF THE MONTH!! Which means…

Thoughts and prayers to whoever had to crunch the numbers 😂

September’s report is here! As always, we’re sharing what came in, what went out, and what we got up to over the month.

None of it happens without the people who donate, shop, foster, volunteer, adopt, share our stuff, or support us in whatever way they can. So, as always, a massive thank you for backing what we do 💗

And if you’d like to help us keep it going into October, there are plenty of ways to get involved & support us.

Apparently finding a home is exhausting work 😴

And yes, every little cutie patootie you just watched is currently available for adoption 💛

Have a favourite? 👀 Check out our adoptable cats (and dog) via the link in bio!

📍 A little note for our interstate friends: our adoptions are Victoria only, with many of our animals located around Melbourne and surrounds.

‼️ 2025–2026 was a BIG one. And we don’t just mean the numbers 👀

This year gave us a chance to see what can happen when animal welfare doesn’t only respond to crisis, but reaches animals and their families earlier.

With rising costs, uncertain circumstances and the everyday pressures that can make caring for a pet harder, we put more of our focus into making sure support was there before things reached that point.

And wow, did that support travel 💛

More than 100,000 pet meals distributed. Thousands of pets receiving practical support. Families accessing help when they needed it.

But perhaps our favourite number is one we’ll never actually know: how many animals never needed to be rescued because their families got the support they needed first.

If numbers are your thing (or you’re just incredibly nosy 👀), you can find our full 2025–2026 Impact Report on our website!

We went digging through 3 years of Animal Welfare Victoria’s reports… and found a few things worth talking about 👀

These reports show us why animal welfare can’t only begin once an animal enters a pound or rescue.

Animals shouldn’t have to reach crisis point before support becomes available. And people shouldn’t have to exhaust every option before they’re able to access help. Keeping animals safe means making that support accessible long before surrender feels like the only option.

Have a swipe and tell us what stood out to you.

If you’re in Victoria and need support with your cat or dog’s behaviour or grooming, Paws & Support is free. Head to the link in our bio to get in touch 💛🐾

🗣️ What’s Updog?!

🐾 Oh nothin’ much. Just being very very thankful to the team at Updog for their generous donation 🥹

Every bit of support helps us keep doing what we do, and it means a lot to have lovely humans (and very appropriately named businesses) in our corner.

Thank you, Updog 💛
