Dr Marianne Gale commenced as Chief Health Officer and Deputy Director-General, Population Health in December 2025.

Dr Gale began her medical career as a Junior Doctor in Townsville Hospital after completing her medical degree at the University of Western Australia. She spent five years as a Field Doctor and Medical Advisor with Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) working with refugees from Myanmar on the Thai Border, then going on to support MSF programs in West and Sub-Saharan Africa, the Caucasus, South America and Asia Pacific.

Prior to joining Queensland Health, Dr Gale has held senior Population Health roles in New South Wales including as Acting Chief Health Officer and Deputy Chief Health Officer during the COVID-19 response.

Elena Katahanas believes that every Australian deserves access to high-quality music education and musical leadership, not just those in professional ensembles. That belief has shaped her career and drives her commitment to Australia's brass band movement.

Her musical journey began as a French horn player before discovering a passion for brass bands and conducting. An Instrumental Teacher and Ensemble Director at several girls' schools in Brisbane, she is also Musical Director of Brisbane Brass 2, which she led as it represented Australia at World Expo in Osaka, Japan in 2025. In 2026, she received the Janice Valma Davey OAM Memorial Award, recognising outstanding service to Australian brass bands.

This year, she has also been awarded a Churchill Fellowship, for which she will study world-leading approaches to brass band conducting, leadership and education in the United Kingdom, Norway and Switzerland. She plans to bring this knowledge home and work with local organisations to educate the next generation of brass band conductors.

British-Australian playwright/director/actor Tama Matheson has had a long association with 4MBS Classic FM. In addition to directing and writing plays featured in the 4MBS Festival of Classics, he's also the founding Artistic Director of the 4MBS Brisbane Shakespeare Festival, which turns 20 this year!

A graduate of the University of Queensland and the University of Oxford, Tama's work has been produced in England, Australia, Europe, and America. His passion for combining music and the spoken word has led him to develop a new form of theatre, the Music-Play, which mixes a full theatrical play with a complete musical concert.

The play he wrote, directed and starred in, 'Tchaikovsky: Child of Glass', is currently nominated for 7 Fringe Theatre Awards for its season at Opera Holland Park. This year and last, he was interviewed in character as Tchaikovsky and Beethoven on the podcast of iconic British broadcaster Gyles Brandreth.

Based in the UK, Tama is currently back in Brisbane to direct and act in 'Henry IV' (Parts 1 & 2 combined) in the 4MBS Brisbane Shakespeare Festival.

Neal Peres Da Costa (piano) and Anna Fraser (soprano) have joined forces in a groundbreaking recording to re-imagine the sound of Schubert's own Schubertiades, with the help of an astonishing set of recordings of singers trained in the 1830s and 40s.
