A Dolphins NRL fan from the very beginning, Shane's wish was to see the Dolphins take on the Broncos at Suncorp Stadium with his family.

Sharing the experience with his sister, her husband and their two children, it was special night out for the family.

There was enjoyment all around as Shane started to really get into the game, proudly doing the Phin Wave every chance he got and soaking up the game's atmosphere.

To make the experience even better, the Dolphins came from behind to secure the win after being down at half-time, capping off a memorable night for Shane and his family.

Down by the beach watching the pelican feeding, Viviana's wish was to visit the Ian Dipple Lagoon and enjoy some fish and chips.

The size and appetite of the pelicans surprised Viviana, as did the number of birds that flocked to the feeding spot at exactly 1:30 pm. It was a sight she thoroughly enjoyed.

Feeling energised by the afternoon, Viviana asked to be assisted into the water, where she stood enjoying the cool touch of the gentle swell and the refreshing sea breeze.

With the day winding down, Viviana tucked into a fresh serving of fish and chips. Ending a wonderful afternoon by the water with a smile on her face.

Some moments stay with you.πŸ§‘πŸš‘πŸ¦‹

For Ambulance Wish Queensland volunteer Madissen, one of those moments was watching Troy and his daughters laugh and play at South Bank after their river cruise wish.

β€œIt was a day filled with love, laughter, and peace, a reminder of how meaningful these experiences are for families.”

This National Youth Volunteer Week, we’re celebrating young volunteers like Madissen, who give their time, skills and compassion to help fulfill the wishes of Queenslanders and their families.

But what inspires her to volunteer? And why did she choose paramedicine?

Read Madissen’s story and discover the difference volunteering with Ambulance Wish Queensland can help make.

A playdate with seals and dolphins. Monique's wish was to visit Sea World with her family.

With a little adventure planned, Monique and her family were treated to an extraordinary day at Sea World.

The special experience started with a chance to get up close and personal with the seals. Monique was able to pet a seal before making her way over to the dolphin enclosure, where she even managed to get one to sing.

Exploration was the theme of the day, with Monique and her family visiting the penguins and polar bears before settling in to watch the water-skiing show at the end of the day.

From the moment they arrived, the Sea World team went above and beyond for Monique. They made sure that there was always something to see, something new to experience, and always plenty to enjoy.

It made Monique's day exactly what she had wished for.

There are some stories that revolve around a love of footy, and for Sandy, rugby league has always been a big part of hers. Her wish was to meet the Dolphins NRL.

Growing up in New South Wales, Sandy never missed an opportunity to follow the game she loved. Years later, that passion remains just as strong, with Sandy proudly cheering on the Dolphins.

Accompanied by her husband, who shared the special day alongside her, Sandy enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of the club facilities, the opportunity to meet players and staff, a chance to hold the prestigious Arthur Beetson Medal for Player of the Year, and a Dolphins jersey signed by the team.

It was a day filled with excitement, smiles, and plenty of conversations about the game that means so much to her. Sharing the experience with her husband made it even more memorable, creating treasured memories that Sandy and her family will cherish for years to come.

Generations of family watching on. Thomas' wish was to watch his great-grandsons play in the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys NRLW halftime game.

There's nowhere else Thomas would rather be. From being escorted through the tunnel to watch the Cowboys enter Queensland Country Bank Stadium, to being on the field watching his great-grandsons play, Thomas was happy.

The emotions grew as the family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, settled into the corporate box, taking in a wonderful view of the field and, more importantly, the chance to spend quality time together across four generations.

An evening filled with love and happiness that will stay with the family for years to come.

Returning to the beach where her love lives on. Karen's wish was to visit her husband's ashes at Noosa River Beach.

When Karen received confirmation that the wish was to go ahead, she was overcome with tears of joy, relief and excitement, knowing she would have an opportunity to honour her late husband in such a meaningful place.

With family and friends by her side, she shared a drink, reminisced over memories here and watched the children play in the sand. While the weather couldn't quite make up its mind, with some sun breaking through between showers, Karen didn't mind - she stayed so positive throughout the day. This beach was always a special place for Karen and her husband. Returning here meant that she could spend some time with the people she loved in a place that felt connected to him. A place that will always be held close in Karen's heart.

Today, we celebrate the first International Ambulance Wish Day.πŸ’™πŸš‘ πŸ¦‹

Ambulance Wish Queensland became Australia's first ambulance wish program when it launched in July 2019. Since then, we've helped fulfil more than 300 wishes, creating precious moments for Queenslanders and the people they love.

From a trip to the beach, to renewing your wedding vows, meeting a giraffe at Australia Zoo, watching your favourite footy team play, or simply bringing family, friends or beloved pets together, every wish is unique. Yet, each one creates memories that will be cherished forever.

International Ambulance Wish Day also honours the origins of this incredible movement. Founded by Dutch ambulance driver Kees Veldboer, whose act of helping a terminally ill patient led to the creation of the world's first Ambulance Wish Foundation in the Netherlands, Stichting Ambulance Wens Nederland. That simple act of compassion has since inspired similar programs around the world.

Today, we thank our volunteers, supporters, donors, partners, and the Queensland Ambulance Service for making these extraordinary moments possible.

Daniel has always had a passion for motorbikes, fast cars, and sharing that love with his family. His wish was to ride in a black Lamborghini.

Daniel was all smiles from the moment he stepped into the QLD Luxury Car Rentals showroom, taking in an impressive collection of Ferraris, Porsches, and a large number of supercars. A lifelong car enthusiast who has owned an RX7, a Mustang, and many other vehicles over the years, Daniel was in his element, swapping stories, enjoying plenty of banter with our volunteers, and making the most of every moment.

Riding alongside Bran, the owner of Queensland Luxury Car Rentals, Daniel was beaming. Cruising the roads in a black Lamborghini was everything he could have asked for.

A huge thank you to Bran and the team at Queensland Luxury Cars for making Daniel's Wish such a memorable experience. Nothing was too much trouble, with Bran generously taking the time to personally show Daniel around the showroom and ensuring Daniel and his family felt truly welcomed.

A morning that will be remembered.

A pastry, a visit to his niece's property and lunch with family. A simple wish for Dennis.

First stop was The Baker's Duck for a treat Dennis had been craving; a strawberry cheesecake pastry.

From there, Dennis spent time at his niece's property, taking in the peaceful greenery, watching the chickens wander about, and enjoying the calm country air. Although it was overcast, it added to the relaxed and cosy feel of the day.

Rounding out with a wonderful lunch shared amongst family, Dennis couldn't help but smile. A moment that created precious memories, proving once again that the simplest of wishes often mean the most.
