As Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month draws to a close, we’re reflecting on the important work being done to help women impacted by domestic and family violence rebuild.

Broken to Brilliant is helping women take control of their financial futures through their empowering Financial Superwomen workshops.

"I knew that financial insecurity kept women and children in unsafe situations. As a result, the Financial Superwomen workshop was born." said Karen Linsday, Director of Broken to Brilliant.

Now, thanks to an Empowering Queensland Women grant, this powerful workshop model is expanding to North Queensland! In June, free workshops will be held in:
πŸ“ Townsville – 11 June
πŸ“ Airlie Beach – 13 June
πŸ“ Mackay – 14 June

These workshops are designed for women who have experienced domestic and family violence, helping them build financial confidence and knowledge. With a train-the-trainer approach, this initiative is also building long-term capacity to ensure ongoing support for women in the community.

Spots are limited β€” register now and take the first step towards financial independence: brokentobrilliant.org/events

National Volunteer Week – Celebrating the Heart of QCWA

This National Volunteer Week, we proudly celebrate and thank the incredible volunteers who dedicate their time, passion, and expertise to supporting QCWA and communities across Queensland.

A special acknowledgement goes to our QCWA members, whose commitment behind the scenes helps shape, strengthen, and grow our Association. From planning events and creating pathways, to advocacy and community support, your contribution is truly invaluable.

We are especially proud that this year QCWA, Country Kitchens, Sue Baillie and Tamara Stephensen all received nominations in Volunteer of the Year categories. To be nominated is a significant honour and a testament to the many hours each of our members gives in service to others.

Your leadership, dedication, and generosity do not go unnoticed. Thank you for the countless hours you contribute to helping our Association thrive. Quite simply, the work of QCWA would not be possible without volunteers. πŸ’™

National Volunteer Week is a time to celebrate you. Every week across Queensland, QCWA volunteers show up with kindness, creativity, encouragement and heart, helping women build confidence, create lifelong friendships, and discover what they are capable of.

This year’s theme, β€œYour Year to Volunteer,” reminds us that one decision to
get involved can make a lifelong difference, not only for the individual, but
for the communities we serve.

To every QCWA volunteer: thank you for the time, care and passion you give
so generously. This week is all about celebrating you and the impact you
make every single day.

TEA TOWEL APRON PROJECT - THANK YOU

A big thank you to all the facilitators and members who offered their time to help us sew the remaining kid's aprons the Country Kitchens team had here at State Office! We have now sent out the last of the aprons out and look forward to putting these to use once they are complete.
