QCWA provides support and friendship for women of all ages in all areas of the state, rural and city.

Handcraft, cookery, photography, international study are a few of the many activities. We lobby to improve conditions for women and their families.

Today, on International Day of Rural Women, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and contribution of women who live and work in rural, regional, and remote communities across Queensland.

From the paddock to the boardroom, from small businesses to volunteer organisations, rural women are the backbone of their families, communities, and industries. They are leaders, innovators, carers, advocates, and changemakers who help our communities thrive.

At QCWA, we are proud to stand alongside generations of rural women who have worked tirelessly to support one another, build stronger communities, and create opportunities for future generations.

As we mark this important day, we thank every rural woman for her dedication, courage, and commitment. Your stories, achievements, and contributions continue to inspire us all.

🍰 Congratulations to Our Own Louise Pope! 🎀

QCWA is delighted to celebrate Louise Pope from QCWA Oxley : Cake, Women and Action, who will represent Queensland as a CWA Judge on the exciting new ABC series Recipe of the Year, premiering on Sunday 11 October at 7.30pm on ABC TV and ABC iview.

Hosted by Adam Liaw and Pia Miranda, this heart-warming new series brings Australians together through the recipes, traditions and stories that make a house feel like home. Set on a picturesque country farm, home cooks from across the nation will compete to earn the title of Australia's Recipe of the Year.

At the heart of the competition is the Country Women’s Association (CWA), bringing generations of cooking wisdom. The home cooks face the formidable CWA judges each week, tackling classic CWA recipes from scones to jam rolls in the hope of winning a coveted CWA ribbon.

The home cooks bring a delicious mix of traditions, cultures and cooking styles, including a 19-year-old cannoli entrepreneur, a Sydney builder whose mother's food provided comfort during wartime, a teacher reconnecting with her late mum through treasured family recipes, and a Malaysian-born home cook sharing the flavours of home with international students.

But this is no ordinary cooking competition. Recipes are made to be shared, and each week the home cooks, hosts, and the CWA gather around the table where everyone has a say in which recipe comes out on top. Forget the pressure and the pretension. This is home cooking at its best: relatable recipes, inspiring cooks, and stories and recipes that bring Australians together.

We are incredibly proud to see one of our Queensland members sharing her expertise on the national stage and showcasing the rich cooking traditions that have been passed down through generations of CWA members.
