*St Paul’s Orthodox Book Club – What a Day!* ✨
What an incredible first Book Club gathering we had on Sunday.
It was very well attended, the atmosphere was warm, and honestly… the food was amazing.
There was such a sense of joy and curiosity as everyone settled in after Divine Liturgy — exactly the kind of community moment our parish loves.

Last month we explored Two Views of the Cross by Frederica Matthewes‑Green, and this month we will step into The Religion of the Apostles by Fr. Stephen De Young, the book highlighted in our flyer which invites everyone to “join us for a thoughtful and engaging discussion over lunch” and reminds us that “all are welcome — whether you have read the whole book, or part of it, or you are simply curious.”

*How the session worked*
Everyone received a chapter‑by‑chapter summary of the book. We took turns reading sections aloud, reflecting on the Orthodox understanding, and then talking about how these teachings actually shape our lives. People shared openly. People were vulnerable. People engaged deeply. You could literally see the light go on in people’s minds as others shared their experiences and perspectives.

*Abouna’s encouragement*
Abouna reminded us that reading just one book is never enough — “if you only read this book, it is incomplete.” His encouragement to read widely and deeply really inspired the group. You could feel people catching the spark.

*The activities… and the fun*
We played a true/false game, which turned out to be both fun and surprisingly challenging. Statements like “Jesus died on the cross to pay a price we could never pay” really made us stop and think — this is not an Orthodox view, it’s a Western one — and the conversations that followed were rich.

But the real highlight?

🎭 *The Role‑Play Drama*
Everyone was given a character and had to act out a scene involving either a hospital or a courtroom. That’s when the hidden extroverts came out in full force.
Awatea delivered the fiercest prosecutor performance we’ve ever seen, and Diago… well, Diago gave us a performance better than Mel Gibson. So much fun.

*Already excited for the next one*
The next Book Club meets Sunday 5th July, after Morning Divine Liturgy, downstairs at church, and after this weekend’s energy, we honestly can’t wait.

The St Paul’s Book Club is an informal, social gathering for people interested in reading Theological books and discussing them.

Discussions are open‑ended and unstructured, reflecting the perspectives of lay readers rather than any position of theological authority.
Participants are encouraged to explore ideas thoughtfully and respectfully.

📍Our First one is this Sunday after the MORNING Liturgy Sunday 7th June.

Dear Parishioners,
Due to growing attendance.
Glory to God!

We now follow a streamline way to receive Holy Communion.

SUNDAY MORNING LITURGY
▪︎The Sunday School CHILDREN and their TEACHERS will receive Holy Communion first.

Followed by parishioners, who will then approach communion PEW by PEW while everyone else is remained seated in silent prayer and reflection before it's the next pews turn in receiving the Holy Sacrament.

The same pew by pew concept applies when receiving The Blessing at the end of the Liturgy.
