Stones Corner parkrun

A free, weekly, timed 5k event every Saturday morning at 7am in Hanlon Park. Everyone is welcome to walk, run or volunteer.

Stones Corner parkrun is a FREE weekly timed 5km event for runners of all standards, which takes place every Saturday at 7am at Hanlon Park - approximately 5km south east of Brisbane's CBD. parkrun is not a race against other runners, but a 5k timed run and it can really be whatever you want it to be, whether that's for fun or as part of a training plan. It offers an opportunity for all the local community, male or female, young or old, to come together on a regular basis to enjoy the beautiful surrounds and get physically active at the same time. We want to encourage people to jog or
run together irrespective of their ability – this event is truly open to all and best of all it really is FREE!

The sun shined sweetly for the 415 runners and walkers out there enjoying the dry weather. We had a day of milestones with the 500 cape getting an airing as well as three 100 capes flapping in the breeze. Welcome to the 54 first timers, some as far away as England, including our super speedy first place finisher. There were 50 PBs out there as well.
Thanks as always to our wonderful volunteers - without you we simply don’t go ahead.
Enjoy your weekend and don’t eat too many lollies out trick and treating.

The weather’s looking great, the tunnels are looking… well, how they look after lots of rain - muddy, sloppy and puddly. It’s definitely not the day for your new white shoes.

Tomorrow is parkwalk for Daniel.

Remember to wear red tomorrow. We’re standing with the Daniel Morcombe Foundation to take practical action for child safety.

Together, we’re helping create safer spaces for children, online and offline.

If you’d like your favourite parkrun to look like this on Saturday we need your help. There are plenty of spaces on the roster:
• finish tokens and support FILLED
• 2x scanners
• 3x marshals
• 2x token sorters.

EVENT CANCELED

Unfortunately due to flooding of our Cornwall St underpass, more rain expected and slippery/mucky conditions in the Ridge St tunnels, we must cancel tomorrow’s event.

Please check out the parkrun website for alternate nearby courses to visit for your Saturday morning fix.

Thanks for joining us this morning at Hanlon Park / Bur’uda for Stones Corner parkrun event # 496. This week 448 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 73 were first timers and 63 recorded new Personal Bests.

We’re looking good for tomorrow!
Despite the rain earlier today, not much is forecast overnight and we have at least one good tunnel. Plus, JJ’s track record as RD is pretty solid when it comes to never cancelling 😂

So, we’re rolling with it! Just maybe leave the new/white shoes at home.

Course check will be done early in the morning, and we’ll post here to advise otherwise.
