We had an incredibly successful working bee last Saturday! 🙌🇸🇮

A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers who turned up and gave their time, energy, and skills to help with the ongoing renovations around the clubhouse. The progress we are making is truly exciting, and it is all thanks to you.

It’s moments like these that show the strength of our community—people coming together, rolling up their sleeves, and getting the job done with pride and positivity.

We are so grateful for every single person who helped, whether it was a few hours or the whole day. Your contribution does not go unnoticed, and it makes a real difference to our club.

Together, we are not just renovating a building—we are building something for future generations to enjoy and be proud of. ❤️🇸🇮

What a wonderful community we are part of! 🇸🇮❤️

As renovations continue around our clubhouse, it has been incredible to see the space slowly coming together thanks to the dedication and support of so many volunteers. They turn up rain hail or shine!

We are especially grateful to those who generously give their time during the week—your efforts behind the scenes are what keep everything moving forward and make such a real difference.

Every hour of work, every helping hand, and every bit of effort is helping shape a clubhouse we can all be proud of. It truly shows what can be achieved when a community comes together.

🇸🇮🔥 FOR ONE NIGHT, WE'RE ALL COMING HOME 🔥🇸🇮

When was the last time you saw the friends you grew up with at the Slovenian Club?

For some, it might have been a few years.
For others, it may have been decades.

On Saturday, 20 June 2026, we have the opportunity to bring our community together once again as we celebrate 35 Years of Slovenian Independence and what promises to be one of the biggest Slovenian gatherings Canberra has seen in years.

This is more than a celebration.

It's a chance to reconnect with old friends, catch up with familiar faces, share stories, create new memories, and celebrate the community that generations have helped build.

The Slovenian Australian Association Canberra is proud to announce the revival of Slovenian language classes, giving a new generation the opportunity to learn, reconnect, and celebrate our language and culture.

Whether you know only živjo and hvala, want to speak with family, prepare for a trip to Slovenia, explore your heritage, or simply challenge yourself with something new, this is your chance!

💃🇸🇮 What an Incredible Weekend of Slovenian Folk Dancing! 🇸🇮🕺

Over three amazing days, our community came together to celebrate Slovenian culture, tradition, music, and dance in a truly unforgettable Folk Dance Workshop.

A huge thank you goes to our talented and passionate instructor and accordian player, Luka and Oscar, who travelled from Slovenia to share their knowledge, energy, and expertise with us. Their patience, enthusiasm, and dedication made the workshop both educational and incredibly enjoyable.

Participants learnt an impressive 20 traditional Slovenian dances, including:

From beginners to experienced dancers, everyone embraced the challenge, shared plenty of laughs, and created wonderful new friendships along the way. The room was filled with smiles, music, and the unmistakable spirit of Slovenian culture.

Workshops like this help preserve our heritage while bringing people together in a fun, active, and meaningful way. We are incredibly proud of everyone who participated and grateful to Luka and Oscar for making this experience so special.

The long-awaited revival is finally here… THE SLOVENIAN SCHOOL RETURNS! After all these years, we’re bringing Slovenian language classes back to the Slovenian Australian Association Canberra and we could not be more excited! 🎉

Our clubhouse is getting spruced up with new floors, new screens, sliding doors and more this week! 🔨✨ We’re always chipping away at renovations and improvements — busy as bees around here 🐝😂

Bored on a rainy day? Come join us! No need to wait for a working bee becauIse there’s always something happening and a job for everyone… lifting, helping, sweeping, or the very important role of standing around pointing at things saying, “Yep… that looks good!” 😆

The more people who come down, the quicker it gets done… and the quicker we all stop asking, “Now where did that tool disappear to?” 🤣🙌

What an incredible community we have at the Slovenian Australian Association of Canberra! ❤️🇸🇮

Every time we put the call out for a working bee, an impromptu clean-up, repairs, painting, setting up, or helping hands around the club — our members show up. Time and time again, you are there supporting us, giving your time, energy, skills, and heart to help keep our club thriving.

It truly is something special to witness. The teamwork, laughter, dedication, and pride people have in our community is what makes this club feel like family.

To every volunteer who gives up their weekends, stops by after work, lends a hand during the week, or simply asks “What can I do to help?” — THANK YOU. You are the reason we continue to grow stronger and achieve so much together.

And the exciting part? There is still so much happening behind the scenes! Throughout the week we always have projects, improvements, preparations, and plenty of jobs big and small happening around the club. If you are available during the week and would like to get involved, we would absolutely love the extra help and company.

Together we are not only maintaining a club — we are building a vibrant community for future generations to enjoy.

Experience the joy, energy, and tradition of Slovenian folklore dancing over an exciting 3-day workshop filled with culture, music, dancing, and social fun! 💃🕺

Whether you are a beginner or experienced dancer, everyone is welcome to join in and celebrate Slovenian heritage together.

✨ Each dance lesson runs for 2 hours, followed by social dancing afterwards!
