We have our second guided walk in language coming up soon! Ranger Shama will lead the walk in Hindi, giving you the opportunity to learn about the Corridor’s wildlife, ecosystems, and the conservation efforts currently taking place on the ground.

These guided walks in language are part of our commitment to ensuring all members of the Ginninderry Community and surrounding areas can enjoy the Corridor and learn about what it has to offer.

Interested in frogs? or photography? or maybe learning how to find frogs and get the perfect picture? We have an event for you (and just in time for October which is the best month for surveying frogs)! Combining our love of nature photography and frogs Cristy Froehlich Photography and Anke Maria- Frog enthusiast and Frogwatch coordinator will be running an evening frog photography event starting at Shepherds lookout carpark. We are excited to announce another track head has opened to take you to our walking track network! Just in time for a spring walk down to the River. This track head comes off Eric Willmot Way in Macnamara and will take you down to the river descent tracks (dark blue track on our track map). It is the most northern track entrance of our track network and will provide easier access to more northern areas of the Corridor. Jahli's lookout featuring a stunning view of the river is one to add to the list of places to visit in the Corridor, just a 20-30 minute walk from this new track entrance.

Did you know its the start of the turtle migration season?

Eastern Long-neck Turtles are very common around the Canberra region and if you stop to look in a slow-moving body of water like a dam, pond, lake and river, you will hopefully see one.

You may find some our friends wandering around trying to get to a new place. If you see one on a road, carefully pick it up by the shell (holding away from you to avoid an odorous defence) and place off the road in the direction that it was walking to.

The Trust is excited to announce the second Critters of the Corridor photography exhibition, coming to the gallery space at the Link Building!

We’re inviting Ginninderry residents and visitors to get out into the Corridor and capture your favourite wildlife moments. From birds, reptiles and mammals to marsupials, insects, amphibians and everything in between - we want to see the Corridor through your eyes.

20 photographs will be selected by The Trust to feature in the exhibition at the Link Building from 12 October to 22 November.

And there’s more! The top three photographs will win prizes, including gift vouchers to:

- Treetops Adventure
- Stepping Stone Café
- Botanical Gardens Bookshop

You’ll also receive your framed and printed photograph after the exhibition closes, for you to keep, give away or sell.

Entries close 21 September, so make sure you get your photos in before the deadline! ⏰

Platypus monitoring in the Ginninderry Conservation Corridor is well underway. Each August, we monitor two sites along the river, and this year, we’ve already spotted platypuses at both locations. How exciting!

August is a great time to see platypuses in the wild, as they become more active around dawn and dusk in preparation for breeding season. Check out this video DJ took of two platypuses swimming on the surface of the river together. 😄

Interested in getting involved? Upper Murrumbidgee Waterwatch offers a range of volunteer survey opportunities at sites across Canberra and NSW. Be sure to get involved before the end of August.
