⚡ Exciting news for Banks and the wider Lanyon Valley!

The Australian Renewable Energy Agency has announced that Banks will be at the centre of the new Go Electric Canberra pilot, helping local households make the switch to cheaper, cleaner and more energy-efficient electric homes.

Up to 1,000 households will receive support to electrify, including through upgrades such as solar, batteries and efficient electric appliances.

Banks residents can register now, and households in neighbouring suburbs are also encouraged to express their interest.

This is a fantastic opportunity for our community to help shape Australia’s clean-energy future while lowering household energy bills.

Canberra leads the nation in electrification, and the suburb of Banks now has the chance to test a revolutionary approach to help make electrification faster and cheaper!

Electrify Canberra, Rewiring Australia and Electric Future are teaming up to help 1,000 households become all-electric homes through the new Go Electric Pilot Program, starting in Banks, Tuggeranong.

The project is supported by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency through new rebates and building on existing ACT Government programs. It also supports installers and tradies, a steady pipeline of installations and accreditation!

Eligible Canberra households can now access a low interest loan to purchase an approved electric cargo (e-cargo) bike and associated equipment.

E-cargo bikes provide households with a realistic alternative to using a second car, helping families reduce transport costs while maintaining the flexibility needed for day-to-day activities.

Canberrans can access low-interest loans through the Sustainable Household Scheme to make their homes and lives more energy efficient. You can check your eligibility online, learn more about the process and find an approved supplier.

Canberra households are demonstrating strong and sustained demand, though the Sustainable Household Scheme, for energy efficiency, electrification and low-emissions transport upgrades.

More than 26,000 households, or 1 in 8 homes across Canberra, have received loans worth more than $290 million since the commencement of the scheme in 2021.
