Strengthening Our Response to Family and Domestic Violence.
On 8–9 October 2026, our Solicitor Munashe, attended the SPEAQ Conference in Townsville, joining others committed to strengthening responses to family and domestic violence and promoting safer communities.
Men’s behaviour change programs play a vital role in addressing the underlying attitudes, beliefs and behaviours that contribute to family and domestic violence. These programs aim to support men to take accountability for their actions, recognise the impact of their behaviour, challenge harmful beliefs and develop respectful, safe and non-violent ways of relating to others.
By addressing the root causes of abusive behaviour and promoting responsibility and lasting behavioural change, these programs can contribute to breaking cycles of violence and reducing the risk of harm to partners, children, and families.
Protecting vulnerable women and children must remain at the heart of every response to family and domestic violence.
Effective behaviour change programs, alongside appropriate risk assessment, victim-survivor support, and ongoing accountability, are an important part of creating safer homes and communities where everyone can live free from fear, abuse and violence.
We acknowledge Munashe’s attendance at the SPEAQ Conference and recognise the importance of continued learning, collaboration and shared commitment in strengthening our collective efforts to prevent family and domestic violence.
Together, we can work towards a future where respect, safety and accountability are the standard, and where every woman, man and child has the opportunity to live free from violence.
