Beautiful winter weather in Gimuy [Cairns] to be out visiting local communities gardens.

Always a pleasure to catch up with Aaron McLeod who has taken on the gorgeous Rollina Gardens in Manoora with awesome volunteers and a number of stakeholders. Fabulous work all around and of course I had to taste something from the garden beds bursting with herbs, flowers, fruit and vegetables!!!

The peanutbutter fruit (pictured) smells and tastes just like peanut butter 🤯🤤 delicious & amazing!!!

🚨 LAUNCHING 16/07/26 🚨

PCYC Cairns is proud to launch our new Emergency Services Cadets (ESC) program for young people aged 12–17! 👏

Delivered in partnership with PCYC Queensland, Queensland Police Service (QPS) and Queensland Fire Department (QFD), the ESC program gives local youth hands-on experiences, leadership opportunities and insight into the world of emergency services.

Cadets will take part in exciting activities including:
🔥 First aid
🚓 Forensics & highway patrol
🐕 K9 demonstrations
🧭 Navigation & radio communications
🚑 Search & rescue scenarios
🤝 Team building & problem solving

The program helps young people build confidence, resilience, communication skills and community connections in a fun, safe and inclusive environment — while learning about volunteering and future pathways in emergency services.

We are also currently seeking passionate volunteers to help support and mentor our new cadet unit. If you’re keen to make a difference in the lives of local youth, we’d love to hear from you!
