🕺💙 WHY DO WE DO THE VARIETY BASH? 💙🕺

Well, obviously… Austin Powers needs an excuse to wear ridiculous clothes, drive a ridiculously colourful car through the outback and yell “YEAH BABY!” at complete strangers. 😂

But seriously…

Behind all the groovy outfits, dust, breakdowns, dodgy showers, questionable roadside toilet stops and the occasional “WHY THE HELL ARE WE DOING THIS?” moment… there’s a bloody good reason. ❤️

THE KIDS.

The Variety Bash raises money to help Aussie kids who need a fair go — kids living with disability, disadvantage and kids growing up in some of the most remote parts of Queensland.

We roll into little outback communities and see first-hand what that support can mean.

A school getting equipment they desperately need.
Kids getting opportunities they otherwise might never have.
Communities getting a helping hand.
And children being given the chance to simply be kids. ❤️

And that’s why we keep coming back.

Because while Car 518 — Austin Powers, Groovy Baby might look like we’re just out there having the time of our lives…

we are. 😂

But we’re also doing something that matters.

We aren’t a massive corporation with millions of dollars behind us.

We’re just Darron & Leanne, a ridiculous car, a lot of enthusiasm, some questionable fashion choices… and hundreds of everyday Aussies who throw a few dollars our way.

We struggle to find the money that we pay out of own pocket , car maintenance , fuel, accomodation, levies . It’s a lot of time and money out of own pocket each year .

All donations we raise go to the kids !

And believe me — every $1, $2, $5, $20 or $100 adds up.

So if you’ve ever wondered why we keep asking for donations…

A strong start to the season for Jacob! 🏆

We’ve only just announced our 2026-27 Variety Heart Scholarship recipients, and we’re already hearing about some exciting things happening for our young athletes.

Jacob recently competed at the Queensland Athletics All Schools State Championships at QSAC, taking home 2nd place in the Para Men’s U20 Discus.

It’s a fantastic start to his competitive season – and there’s plenty more to come. With the support of his coach, Jacob has been working hard on his discus technique over the past few months. It’s a work in progress, but he’s already seeing the benefits.

And now, that 2nd place finish has earned Jacob a spot at the national competition in Perth in December!

Before then, he’ll also represent his region at the Queensland School Sport State Championships in October, competing in all three throws.

We’re so proud to be backing Jacob through a Variety Heart Scholarship and can’t wait to see where this season takes him.

Feeling a little flat today… but then I watched this video and it reminded me exactly why we do what we do! ❤️

The laughs, the friendships, the crazy moments, the adventures and the friendships we make along the way… there really is nothing quite like the Variety Bash! 🚗💨

And then there’s the difference we get to make. ❤️

Seeing the smiles on kids’ faces, visiting outback schools and communities and knowing that the money we raise helps give Aussie kids a fair go makes every kilometre, every raffle, every fundraiser and every late night absolutely worthwhile.
