“I didn’t think I was ready…”

That’s something we hear often.

And not just from people watching but from the women who end up on that stage.

The Women in Technology Awards 2026 isn’t about having it all figured out.
It’s about recognising the work you’re already doing.

Sometimes, it takes being seen to finally see it for yourself.

✨ Event Recap | Inspiring Women in STEM Breakfast ✨

What an incredible morning bringing together our community to celebrate and learn from three remarkable women in STEM.

Hosted by Iyari Cevallos, we were privileged to hear the experiences, insights and career journeys of Dayle Clarke, Naomi Lutvey and Dr Claudia Giurgiuman.

The conversation explored leadership, career growth, equity, and the realities of building meaningful careers in STEM. While each speaker’s journey was unique, several powerful themes emerged:

💡 Focus on what you can do, not just what you’ve done before. When applying for roles, back yourself and communicate how your skills and experience can create value in the position.

💡 Don’t be afraid to reach out. Calling the contact person listed on a job advertisement can help you build a connection, gain valuable insights, and stand out from other applicants.

💡 Seek opportunities to grow your strategic capability. Whether through a mentor, sponsor, or conversations with your manager, developing broader strategic thinking can open doors to future leadership opportunities.

💡 Equity remains an important conversation. We explored the progress being made, the challenges that still exist, and the role we all play in creating more inclusive workplaces and opportunities.

Thank you to our speakers for sharing their wisdom so openly, and to everyone who joined us for a morning of connection, learning and inspiration. Together, we’re continuing the important work of balancing the scales and creating a stronger future for women in STEM.

What happens when women are in positions of power and influence?

Priorities shift. Perspectives broaden. And issues that have long been overlooked finally receive the attention they deserve.

This week, Melinda French Gates announced a $215 million investment focused on improving healthcare outcomes for women, particularly during midlife. It’s a powerful example of the impact that can happen when decision-makers bring diverse lived experiences to the table.

Representation isn't just about who has a seat. It's about the ideas, investments and opportunities that follow.

When women lead, entire communities benefit. 💙

Her investments will focus on improving health in women's reproductive and midlife years.
