New Glen Eira City Council Service Desk in Bentleigh.

Glen Eira City Council have announced that they now have a Council Service Desk at Bentleigh Library and Youth Hub.

They understand it is not always practical and can be difficult for some people to travel to the Town Hall in-person. The Bentleigh Service Desk is available for help with general enquiries, everyday Council services and making payments (eftpos only - no cash or cheques).

For example, you can register your pet or collect a kitchen caddy.

Some specialised services including planning and building will still need to be managed at Town Hall.

The service is open Monday to Friday from 10am-5pm at the library counter. (closed 1pm-1.30pm)

Access via train or bus as well as on-site parking.

Sourdough Making Workshop

The group will learn the process from starter through to a take home loaf to rise and bake the following day.

Danny will bring in some prepared items that will be baked during the session and enjoyed for lunch.

Students will also take home some starter and instructions to continue making sourdough at home.

We are running a series of sewing upcycling workshops over the coming months, and we are doing a call out for items that can be repurposed or be given a second life:
- sewing kits
- fabric scissors
- fabric scraps
- tote bags

NEW Upcycling and Creative Mending workshops - starting Tuesday 1st September

Build practical sewing and mending skills, increase confidence in creative making and encourage sustainable behaviours + waste reduction.

Participants will be required to bring some basic equipment and items to encourage the theme of recycling and repurposing.
Tuesday 1st September, 9:30am - 12:30pm

Applique with Fabric Scraps on a preloved cushion cover

Participants embellish a pre-loved cushion cover using appliqué techniques and reclaimed textiles. Give your cushion a fresh new look while exploring composition, colour, and basic construction. These techniques can be used to cover holes and stains.

Participants to bring: fabric scissors, a cushion cover and a sewing kit, fabric scraps (if possible)

$20, morning tea provided
