With our state candidates now endorsed, Voices of Deakin goes into hiatus until after the election (3 August until 1 December 2026).
Although our state work is finished, we'll be working in the background on a new federal survey and flyers, Maroondah Festival and Whitehorse Festival – where you'll see us in a brand-new t-shirt colour!
Thanks to all for their support!

Community Independents succeed firstly by listening to the community that they represent ie their electorate, not a political party but the people who voted for them. That is one of their defining characteristics ie they listen. And another is that they give voice to the matters of concern to their community. Here is a great example from Allegra Spender doing just that - listening and giving voice in a positive way about what makes Australia a great place to live (and migrate to). https://www.facebook.com/reel/910283734800190/?fs=e&fs=e

This is the power of Community Independents at work, representing their own community’s interests and teaming up on issues of common concern.

And look at the quality - a former Australian Wallabies Captain plus a successful business consultant, corporate executive and lawyer plus a celebrated professor and neurologist. Not a bad team, hey?

These are true community leaders and they represent a real alternative for voters that have the major parties worried.

Why? Because they do politics differently - is that what you are looking for?

In Victoria, a fake party called "Free Palestine" was created to "capture votes and redistribute them" to One Nation.
ABOVE THE LINE VOTING: Glen Drury, 'the preference whisperer' has been very successful in getting people with a low primary vote into Victoria's upper house, through elaborate preference flows. It's called 'group ticket voting'. It's only used in Victoria.
The bill to stop it is sitting in parliament right now. Sign the petition.
