🌈 IDAHOBIT – International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia 🌈

Today we recognise IDAHOBIT, observed annually on 17 May, marking the historic moment in 1990 when the World Health Organization removed homosexuality from the International Classification of Diseases. This important milestone represents ongoing progress toward equality, dignity, and human rights for LGBTQIA+ communities worldwide.

IDAHOBIT is a powerful reminder of the importance of standing together as service providers, community members, and allies to raise awareness and actively promote inclusion, respect, and safety for all.

Let’s continue working toward a world where everyone can live openly, safely, and with pride. πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆβœ¨

Inclusive Communication looks like a number of things! And every workplace communicates differently. But here are some things to keep in mind to communicate inclusively:

Use person-first language, such as "a person with a disability" instead of "a disabled person"

Don't make assumptions about people's communication style, invite conversation and respect preferences.

Use plain language and avoid metaphor, or jargon to improve understanding for all.

Define tasks and processes clearly, so that everyone understands what is expected.
Be direct and clear in your messaging to avoid any misunderstandings.

Inclusive communication benefits everyone! 😊
