Volunteer Week 2026 — Celebrating the Heart of Our Village
This week, we honour the people who make the CSS Village what it is: our volunteers.
The ones who show up with open hands, open hearts, and a commitment to lifting our community every single day.
In 2025, they gave 69,000 hours of service — hours spent rescuing food, sewing opportunity into textiles, welcoming families, mentoring women, training students, and building the systems that keep our village strong.
Because of them:
- 2,000kg of food is rescued and shared every week, reaching 10,500+ people
- 46 women trained in sewing and design created 320+ products for Camilla -25 women launched home‑based micro‑businesses
- Our Village shop became a place of dignity, connection, and belonging for women, elders, migrants, and refugees
And beyond the numbers, there’s the heart:
“I used to come here for help, and now I help others.”
“When I am giving back it makes me feel like I’m doing something real for my community.”
To every meal maker, hamper packer, sewing mentor, trainer, cutter, shop assistant, counsellor, admin and IT supporter, strategist, and every person who sorted, packed, taught, welcomed, and served — thank you.
You don’t just volunteer.
You are CSS.
You help our village not just survive, but truly thrive.
