"Gold standard governance failure," says NTEU Victorian Division Secretary Jack Kirne, as Fed Uni management backtrack, scrabbling around frantically to find credible reasons for announcing cuts on Monday only to walk them back by Thursday.

While the uni's becoming a laughing stock, enterprise bargaining is also stalling, with no new deal in sight.

NTEU is calling for industrial action to force better treatment for staff and students.

Arts cuts walked back (again!). This was a failure of leadership and members are ready to take action in response ✊

Federation University is cutting 87% of arts subjects - effective now - after springing this on staff in a snap meeting at 10 minutes' notice yesterday.
NTEU is lodging a formal dispute and vows to fight these cuts again, after successfully overturning the university's previous attempt to axe arts in 2022.
