Great to see our coverage in the Courier continuing online!

We had an excellent mass meeting yesterday, with members voting overwhelmingly in support of a Protected Action Ballot Order. This will help give us the right to take legally protected industrial action to win our claims, should the time come.

Importantly, it signals a key moment in our campaign for a very different FedUni – one that will remain strong and stable into the future, continuing to serve our region and our students.

Exhausted Federation University staff are demanding a 'stability guarantee' in their new EBA after years of mass cuts, restructuring and change. 🔗 https://links.acm.media/FC9ALS

After 25 restructures, staff at Federation University want more stability and a greater say in decision-making.
The latest round of enterprise bargaining launched on Sunday in Ballarat, with local MPs in attendance, Juliana Addison and Michaela Settle.

Great coverage in the Courier!

The Courier, 15 June 2026:

Staff at Fed Uni campuses have weathered more than 25 major restructures and hundreds of job losses over the past six years. As negotiations get under way on a new Enterprise Bargaining Agreement, the National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) has called for stability and more staff involvement in the decision-making process.

“We're actually not looking to restrict change or stop change, but we're looking to increase the quality of change by involving staff in those change processes. This is a very deeply felt and widely felt issue. It's about securing a long-term vision for the university and its regions because Fed Uni is such an important institution in Ballarat and the regions.” –Dr Mathew Abbott, NTEU Federation University Branch President

⭐️⭐️⭐️

NTEU members at Federation University have kicked off their bargaining campaign for fair pay, job security and a real say in decisions that impact staff.

When staff have a say, universities work better for everyone.
