What a day at the Buninyong Sustainability - at Royal Park Smart Living Expo in Buninyong… big ideas, good chats and a whole lot of locals doing brilliant things for our planet 🌎.

We loved meeting so many Sustainable Seekers and handing out $1,000 in Community Gold to help you shop local while you live a little lighter. Win win ❤️

And it was a perfect reminder of why we back projects that quietly change everything through our Community Investment program.

Huge thanks to the Smart Living organisers, stallholders, speakers and everyone who popped by for a chat… you made it such a fun day for us.

Supporting healthy land and a healthy . 🚜🪸

We’ve seen some great outcomes from the Reef Catchments Landscape Repair Program last year.

The program is delivering work to reduce sediment run-off and improve Reef water quality. This is also providing benefits for land productivity and healthier waterways.

In 2025, work included remediating land, planting more than 32,000 native plants and commencing a range of streambank fencing and grazing land management projects.

These works are estimated to prevent approximately 4,682 tonne/year of fine sediment from entering the Reef Lagoon.

This is funded through the Reef Trust and is part of the broader $200m Landscape Repair Program.

Tomorrow is the Buninyong Sustainability - at Royal Park SMART LIVING EXPO. And we'll throw in one last lot of 'green-ish' projects that drive change. And sometimes it’s smarter systems we've been backing. 🌏

A few we’re proud of:

• Committee for Ballarat (Future Shapers - Community Leaders): carpooling, low-emission transport, local catering, recyclable packaging.

• Buninyong-Mount Helen Fire Brigade (FCV Replacement): replacing older vehicles to reduce carbon emissions.

• Ballarat Triathalon Club : 20-year lifespan timing system, reusable chips, online-only registrations to cut paper waste.

• Bunanyung Landscape Alliance (EcoHub Landcare Connection): website helping land managers increase carbon absorption through better vegetation management.

And now back to community investment projects we've backed in this space. This time, quiet wins matter… especially when they keep stuff out of landfill. ♻️

We’ve backed waste-reduction projects like:

• Community Care Centre Ballarat: recycling household goods to keep them out of landfill.

• Yuille Park Community College (Yuille Explorers): container deposit scheme partnerships with local businesses (like City Oval Hotel).

• Reverse Advent Calendar Ballarat: gift packs from scrap fabrics, plus container collection for recycling.

• Back to Clarendon 150th Anniversary: on-site recycling, plus the option for attendees to plant native trees.
