Do you have plantation timber on your farm and don't know how to utilise it?

Overview
The Trees on Farms Utilisation Program helps landowners make their timber resource more valuable. It is open to owners of small farm plantations (between 3 and 30 hectares).

Eligible participants can receive a free farm plantation assessment. This will look at the commercial potential of their timber resource. The aim is to identify pathways into timber, firewood and wood-fibre markets.

The Trees on Farms Utilisation Program assists landowners to realise the value of existing farm plantations planted for timber and fibre production.

Join us for an interactive and informative field trip to the Ballan Primary School as a part of the Autumn Moorabool Landcare Festival being held on May 16.

In 2023 Moorabool Catchment Landcare Group and Ballan Primary School delivered a collaborative project that involved planting a biodiverse mix of native plants and installing wildlife nestboxes that students decorated on the school grounds. These actions have improved the biodiversity values of the school, created food and habitat for wildlife, and engaged the school community to do it.

We will provide a background on the project including photos of what the area looked like prior to planting, conduct a short tour of the planting area, and using a pole camera inspect what wildlife is calling our nestboxes home.

There will also be kids' friendly biodiversity audit activity (more information through the link below).

This is a great event for people who want to learn more about native plantings and families looking for an activity for kids to be engaged in environmental education.
