Sydney Model Railway Society

Established in 1936, Sydney Model Railway Society is the oldest Model Railway Club in Australia.

We meet in the Southern Suburbs of Sydney every Monday night for running sessions from 6:30pm to 9:30pm and on every 2nd Friday from 11am, subject to member availability. Our clubroom features a HO scale freelance Australian layout which we have recently converted to full DCC operation. In addition we also own and operate a HO scale DCC exhibition layout, "Mungo Scotts". Sydney Model Railway Soci

Wishing all our supporters and followers a very safe and hopefully model railway filled Christmas.

Our club rooms are currently closed and we reopen for 2026 on 5 January.

We are very fortunate to have a diverse range of members with a broad range of modelling interests so we are occasionally treated to models which didn't even run in Australia.

Mungo Scott's is all set up for the opening day at the Goulburn Model Railway Exhibition.

Open from 9 to 5 today at Veolia Stadium, 45 Braidwood Road Goulburn.

Members are preparing to head north of the harbour this weekend to attend the North Shore Railway Modellers exhibition in Dee Why.

For many years this was held at Forestville but the exhibition outgrew the venue and this year it's a brand new venue with much easier parking. Sydney Model Railway Society will be there with our modelling clinic demonstrating all types of aspects of the hobby including kit building, applying decals, DCC installations and much more.
