Mental health doesn't exist separately from the rest of life.

Sometimes someone needs therapeutic support. Sometimes they also need help understanding a complex system, connecting with services or working through practical barriers that are affecting their wellbeing.

Social workers can play an important role here, combining therapeutic support with advocacy, care coordination and system navigation.

Lilly Pilly's social work services have included support around complex psychosocial needs, including navigating systems such as the NDIS, Centrelink and housing.

Because sometimes moving forward starts with making the next step a little clearer.

Mental health support doesn't always happen while sitting in a chair.

For some people, gentle movement can provide another way to reconnect with the body, notice sensations and practise being present without pressure to perform.

Trauma-informed movement takes a different approach to exercise. It prioritises choice, safety and the person's ability to work at their own pace.

Lilly Pilly's collective includes professionals with experience in trauma-informed Pilates and trauma-sensitive yoga.

Do you know the difference between burnout and vicarious trauma?

Burnout is often associated with prolonged workplace stress and can involve exhaustion, reduced motivation and feeling disconnected from work.

Vicarious trauma relates specifically to the impact of repeated exposure to other people's traumatic experiences. It can be particularly relevant for professionals who listen to, read about or work closely with traumatic material.

Recognising the difference can help organisations think more carefully about the support their teams need.

Lilly Pilly provides training and support around vicarious trauma, burnout, compassion fatigue and sustainable practice.

What if therapy could meet you in more than one way?

Different people connect with different therapeutic approaches. For some, conversation is central. For others, creative expression, movement, practical support or a combination of approaches may feel more accessible.

Lilly Pilly brings together psychologists, counsellors, art therapists, mental health social workers and trauma-informed movement professionals across its collective.

The goal isn't to fit everyone into the same model. It's to connect people with appropriate support for their individual needs.

Supervision is an important part of professional practice, particularly for people working with complex situations and vulnerable clients.

It creates dedicated time to reflect on cases, consider clinical decisions, examine boundaries and think carefully about what a client may need.

Lilly Pilly provides professional supervision to support practitioners in developing thoughtful, ethical and sustainable practice.

Good mental health care doesn't happen in a vacuum.

Culture, identity, family, community, language and lived experience can all influence how someone understands wellbeing and what makes support feel safe and useful.

Lilly Pilly has worked with culturally diverse communities and developed flexible, community-based models designed around local needs. Their work at La Perouse, for example, was developed in response to barriers to accessing and sustaining care, with a focus on culturally safe, trauma-informed psychological support.

Culturally responsive care starts with listening rather than making assumptions.

Finding a therapist isn't about finding the "best" therapist. It's about finding someone who is a good fit for you.

Therapists have different areas of experience, therapeutic approaches, communication styles and ways of working.

That matters.

Lilly Pilly's therapist directory allows people to explore clinicians by factors such as location, areas of expertise and therapeutic approaches, including clinicians experienced in EMDR and neuro- and gender-affirming care.

You can take your time, ask questions and look for someone whose approach feels appropriate for your needs.

When your work involves other people's trauma, stress or crisis, the impact can stay with you.

People working in healthcare, community services, legal services and other trauma-exposed environments can experience vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue and burnout.

Support for these professionals shouldn't be an afterthought.

Lilly Pilly works with organisations to provide counselling, debriefing, supervision, training and tailored wellbeing programs for teams working with complex and emotionally demanding situations.

Because sustainable care also means caring for the people providing it.

How often do we say "I'm fine" before we've even checked in with ourselves?

Sometimes keeping things to ourselves is simply part of how we've learned to manage difficult emotions. It can feel easier than explaining something complicated, worrying someone else or admitting that we're struggling.

But having a place where you don't have to automatically say "I'm fine" can be valuable.

Therapy can offer that space. You don't have to arrive with a neat explanation. You can start with, "I don't really know what's going on."

That's enough.

People who support others can be affected by the work they do.

Vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue and burnout can develop when professionals are repeatedly exposed to distressing experiences, particularly without adequate support and opportunities for reflection.

Lilly Pilly provides training to help organisations recognise these risks and develop practical strategies for supporting their teams.
