On Saturday, Jess and Kirstina attended the 'Reconciliation in Action' workshop with Jessica Staines from Koori Curriculum.
We would like to say a big thank you to one of our families - Tara & Scott, for sponsoring a ticket for our educators to attend 🥰
The day was filled with learning, reflection, and meaningful conversations as they joined educators from a variety of services, all at different stages of their own reconciliation journeys. Together, they explored practical ways to develop a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) and further strengthen their commitment to embedding Aboriginal and Zenadth Kes (Formally known as Torres Strait Islander people) perspectives within their service.
The workshop also provided valuable opportunities to connect with like-minded educators, share ideas, learn from one another, and build relationships that will support ongoing reconciliation work.
This experience reinforced the importance of reconciliation not being a destination but as an 'ongoing' journey of listening, learning, reflecting, and taking action. It aligns closely with the EYLF V2.0 principles of Respect for Diversity and Aboriginal and Zenadth Kes Perspectives, the practice of Cultural Responsiveness, and supports children's sense of identity, belonging, and connection to their world (Outcomes 1 & 2).
