We are urgently seeking Ward Volunteers to support patients and staff at the Lyell McEwin Hospital.

Ward Volunteers provide valuable support by offering a friendly presence, assisting patients, and helping staff with a variety of non-clinical tasks.

Spotlight on our volunteers

Last week, three of our volunteers were interviewed on ABC 891.

Claire Forrest, Paul Bovington and Yvette Cloak had the wonderful opportunity to join Jo Laverty on ABC Radio Adelaide’s Afternoons program as part of the live broadcast from the Salisbury Community Hub, celebrating Salisbury and the surrounding communities.

Claire, Paul and Yvette shared their volunteering journeys and spoke about the many ways volunteers contribute across our hospitals. They also highlighted the difference volunteering makes, not only to patients and families, but to the volunteers themselves.

It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the valuable work of our volunteers and highlight the important role volunteering plays in supporting our northern community.

If you are looking for personal fulfillment and a sense of achievement, pick up some information and see what we have to offer.
We will be at our site from 10-2pm Monday 17/8/26 to Friday 21/8/26 promoting Hospital Volunteering awareness and always ready for a chat.

By offering companionship, a listening ear, and friendly conversation, volunteers create meaningful connections that can brighten someone's day. Every act of kindness helps build a more caring and connected community.

Volunteers often say they receive just as much as they give. Along the way, they build lasting friendships, support one another, and create a genuine sense of belonging. As these coffee catch-ups show, volunteering is about more than giving back, it's about being part of a caring community where everyone feels connected.

Keeping fit has never been easier. Two birds with one stone. Physical fitness ( guaranteed 8 to 10,000 steps in a four-hour shift) and a great sense of well-being because you make a huge difference; the genuine gratitude from patients and family you assist is truly remarkable.

You could walk a father to navigate the hospital corridors and reach in time to witness his child’s birth and support his partner, you ensure a loved one reaches ICU via the shortest route or just ensure a patient reaches the correct location in time; all of these vital when you are already in a stressed, anxious space.

Being a guide volunteer is truly rewarding. All
you need is to commit to a minimum of 4 hour shift a week
