Men need connection too. When we can facilitate a space for men of diverse backgrounds to come together, create the conditions for men to have courage and to be vulnerable - we build resilient communities. MCCSA extends our congratulations to new CEO of Federation of Ethnic Communities' Councils of Australia - FECCA, Prerana Mehta ๐Ÿ‘

We look forward to strengthening our relationship for the benefit of multicultural communities in South Australia and beyond.

Mr Doukas said Preranaโ€™s experience in advocacy, strategic communications and senior leadership makes her the ideal person to lead FECCA into its next chapter. โ€œPrerana is an inclusive, values-driven leader with a strong track record in stakeholder engagement, public policy and organisational leadership. Her commitment to equity, inclusion and community empowerment aligns strongly with FECCAโ€™s mission and vision,โ€ he said.

Prerana, a Zambian-born migrant of Indian heritage has built her career in senior executive roles with the Australian Government, private sector and NFPs across Vietnam, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Singapore and Australia, said she was honoured to take on the role at a critical time for multicultural communities.

โ€œIt is a privilege to lead FECCA when the voices and experiences of multicultural communities matter more than ever. FECCA has a proud history of advocacy, and I look forward to working with our members, partners, government and communities to advance inclusion, equity and belonging for all. At a time when social cohesion is being tested - by rising racism and a national conversation about identity that is not always inclusive - this moment calls for leadership that is both strategically powerful and deeply human.โ€

FECCA looks forward to working with Prerana as the organisation continues to champion the rights, interests and aspirations of culturally and linguistically diverse communities across Australia. The appointment follows a competitive recruitment process that attracted a strong and diverse field of candidates nationally.

After moving to Australia, Ayma built a sense of belonging through inclusive activities like dance and sport, where her low vision never posed an issue. Taking a risk to meet people and try new activities was the key to finding her place in Australia.
