We meet each month at 7pm at the Western Youth Centre, 79 Marion Rd, Cowandilla. Plant sales by a designated Member (available only to financial Members), takes place from 7pm to 7:30pm. Each month a different member will offer a range of plants for sale. We usually have a speaker each month, so you can learn more about about the different species of Cacti & Succulents. Subjects we cover include:
how to propagate C&S (from offsets, seeds or leaves), growing, grafting, common pests, how to prepare your plant for competitions, and slideshows from our members showing their collections and travel experiences. At each meeting we have a plant competition where you can bring along that months' nominated plant, which is then voted on by members present. We also have display plants and a section for identification and show and tell. We have an extensive library and after becoming a member, you can borrow books to do your own research. Our membership costs cover meetings and an emailed monthly newsletter, our Annual Journal and the privilege to sell at any of our Plant Sales (subject to fulfilling the Seller conditions.). A printed version of the newsletter can be mailed to you at an extra cost. We have 2 Plant Sales/Shows per year: An Autumn Show in March/April and our Spring Show with our annual Member's Competition in November.
