What an incredible day!

On Wednesday, we came together to celebrate National Police Legacy Day, to celebrate the work of Police Legacy's nationwide, honouring the families of those who have served our communities and remembering the enduring legacy of our fallen police officers.

From heartfelt stories and moving speeches to moments of reflection, connection and generosity, the luncheon was a powerful reminder of the strength of the Police Legacy family and the support that surrounds it.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, supported our fundraising activities, and helped make the day so special.

National Police Legacy Day is a significant initiative that brings together Police Legacy organisations from every state and territory to recognise, support, and raise awareness of the vital care they provide to police families.

Our Daisy Pledge Wall is a special feature of our National Police Legacy Day luncheon, designed to visually showcase the strength of community support behind Police Legacy families.

By purchasing a purple daisy - our national symbol - you are making a meaningful pledge of support. Each daisy will be displayed on the Daisy Pledge Wall at the event, featuring your name or business, coming together to create a powerful and highly visible tribute to those we support.

Even if you can’t attend the event, you can still be part of it. Your daisy will stand proudly on the wall, ensuring your support is seen, acknowledged, and felt by all in the room.

Today is Thank a First Responder Day.

When we see a uniform, it's easy to think of the job.

But behind every uniform is a person.

A parent rushing home after a night shift.
A partner who misses special occasions.
A friend who answers the phone when someone is having a tough day.
A community member who chooses to help others when they need it most.

Today, we recognise and thank the police officers, paramedics, firefighters, emergency communications staff, rescue personnel and volunteers who dedicate themselves to keeping our communities safe.

💙 What is National Police Legacy Day? 💙

National Police Legacy Day, held each year on 17 June, is a day to recognise and celebrate the unique bond that exists within the policing family.

For more than five decades, Police Legacy organisations across Australia have stood beside police officers and their families through life's challenges, ensuring that no police family faces hardship alone.

National Police Legacy Day is a day of celebrating the vital work that Police Legacy organisations do to support police families. It is also an opportunity to honour those who serve our communities, remember those who are no longer with us, and recognise the families who continue their legacy with strength, resilience and pride.

The symbol of the day is the Police Legacy Daisy, inspired by the Michaelmas Daisy - the flower of St Michael, patron saint of police.

We’re extremely proud of the South Australia Police members and their friends/family who participated in Run4Blue this year.

Not only did South Australia show up, we came 2nd overall for fundraising in the nation, which is an incredible achievement and a true reflection of the commitment, generosity and spirit of our SA Police family.

Police officers already carry one of the toughest and most demanding roles in our community, showing up every day for others during some of life’s hardest moments. What makes this initiative even more meaningful is that, despite the pressures and sacrifices that come with the job, they continue to give even more of themselves to support others.

The funds raised through Run 4 Blue help ensure that when the unthinkable happens - whether through injury, illness or bereavement, SA Police families are never facing it alone. Through SA Police Legacy, we’re there to support members and their families every step of the way.

This incredible initiative also wouldn’t be possible without Natalee Cunningham and Glenn Holland APM , whose dedication and passion have helped raise close to one million dollars for Police Legacies around Australia. Their impact on the police family nationwide is amazing.

To every member who ran, donated, fundraised or supported the cause, thank you. Your commitment to both the community and your police family does not go unnoticed.
