🚁 Ever wondered what it's like to get up close to a police helicopter?

Last week, our young police legatees got the chance to do exactly that during an unforgettable visit hosted by Pilatus Aircraft Ltd and South Australia Police.

The day included exclusive behind-the-scenes access to SAPOL PolAir, where our young people explored helicopters and planes, met police pilots and learned about aviation policing. There were plenty of questions, lots of excitement and some very happy future aviators!

A sincere thank you to Pilatus and SAPOL for opening their doors and creating such a unique experience for our young police legatees. These special opportunities help build confidence, create connections and make memories that will last for years to come.

Last Thursday, we had the pleasure of hosting our annual Thank You Night, a special evening dedicated to recognising the sponsors, ambassadors, volunteers and supporters who make the work of SA Police Legacy possible.

It was wonderful to come together to celebrate another fantastic year and acknowledge the generosity and commitment that continues to support our police families.

Announcement of upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The AGM will be held in the office of SA Police Legacy on Monday 7th December 2026, 4pm. Serving and retired South Australia police officers are welcome to attend, please RSVP your attendance to our team.

During the AGM, four board director positions will be filled. Matt Nairn (retired), Nick Minge (serving) and Annette Gilbert (serving) have indicated their intention to renominate. Kellie Watkins (serving/Chair) has announced her retirement from the board, and we thank Kellie for her substantial contribution over the past 6.5 years.
If you would like to nominate to join the board of SA Police Legacy, you will need to complete the nomination form.

Why is practising gratitude good for you?

Gratitude is the practice of noticing and appreciating the positive aspects of life, no matter how small. Research has shown that regularly practising gratitude can have significant benefits for emotional, psychological, and social wellbeing.

Gratitude helps people focus on what is meaningful, supportive, and positive in their lives. By regularly acknowledging these experiences, individuals can improve their wellbeing, strengthen relationships, build resilience, and enhance their ability to cope with life's challenges.

Simple ways to practise gratitude
- Keep a gratitude journal and write down three things you are thankful for each day.
- Tell someone you appreciate them and why.
- Reflect on positive moments at the end of the day.

After an extraordinary day that began at 5:00am and concluded close to 11:00pm, The Longest Beat was a huge success!

Thanks to an incredible group of participants, volunteers, sponsors and supporters, the event raised an amazing $7,000 for SA Police Legacy.
