We are officially rallying behind Armand Ridgard as South Africa's representative at the ASI Contest Best Sommelier of the World 2026 (Lisbon)!

This October, Armand will carry the South African flag onto the ultimate global sommelier stage. To get him there prepared and ready to win, we need the support of our incredible w**e and hospitality community.
Our collective goal is to raise R60,000 to help cover flights, accommodation, and intensive training. Every bit makes a difference!

SASA AGM 2026

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2026 South African Sommeliers Association Annual General Meeting, both in person and online.

This year's AGM marked the election of two new Board Members, updates on SASA's national and international initiatives, and discussions around the priorities that will shape the next chapter of SASA.

Congratulations to Armand Ridgard and Mxolisi Mahashi who join the existing board members.

THE ROAD TO LISBON BEGINS

The journey to the ASI Best Sommelier of the World Competition 2026 starts now.

This October, Armand Ridgard, Best Sommelier of South Africa 2025, will represent our country on the world's biggest sommelier stage in Lisbon, Portugal.

His preparation has already begun with the ASI Bootcamp in Brazil, where competitors from around the world trained with some of the industry's most respected sommeliers, Masters of W**e and Master Sommeliers.

A sincere thank you to Mike Ratcliffe, whose generous support made Armand's participation in the Bootcamp possible. Investments like these help strengthen South African sommeliers and create opportunities to compete on the global stage.

Over the coming weeks, we'll be taking you behind the scenes as we follow Armand and South Africa's Road to Lisbon.
