When an ambulance, fire engine, or other emergency vehicle approaches, the person they're trying to reach may desperately need those few extra minutes.

Stay calm, check your surroundings and safely make room for the emergency vehicle to pass. Don't suddenly brake, block an intersection, or follow closely behind it to get through traffic.

A small action from every driver can help emergency responders reach someone faster.

Make space. Someone may be waiting for help.

Going for a walk or a run should be just that — a walk or a run.
No one should have to change their route, cross the road or constantly look over their shoulder because someone else is making them uncomfortable.

Give people their space. Don’t follow, shout at or make unwanted comments. And if you see someone being harassed or intimidated, don’t just look the other way. If it’s safe to do so, offer support or get help.

We all share the same roads, paths and public spaces here in the Midlands. A little awareness and respect can help make them safer and more comfortable for everyone.

Respect each other. Look out for each other.

Heading: Could Someone Find Your Home Quickly?

It seems like a small detail, but when emergency services, security, or medical assistance are trying to reach you, a clearly visible house number can make finding the correct property much easier.

Take a look at yours from the road. Is it easy to see? Is it hidden behind plants? Can it still be read after dark?

While you're there, make sure everyone in your household knows your correct street address and any useful directions or landmarks.

When minutes matter, make your home easier to find.

Here in the Midlands, our community includes people from many different backgrounds, but we share the same roads, neighbourhoods, and public spaces. We all have a part to play in making them places where people feel welcome, respected and safe.

Today, let’s celebrate what makes each of us unique and what brings us together.

Our heritage may be diverse. Our community is shared.

Don’t switch off until you’re inside.

You’re almost home. You know the road, you recognise the neighbourhood, and it’s easy to relax before you’ve even reached your front door.

But arriving at or leaving your property is still a time to stay aware.

As you approach your gate or driveway, put your phone away and take notice of what’s happening around you. Have your remote or keys ready, avoid sitting unnecessarily in your parked vehicle, and always make sure your gate or garage door has closed properly behind you.

It’s not about being fearful. It’s about making awareness part of your everyday routine.

Your journey isn’t over until you’re safely inside.

A weekend away or family holiday is something to look forward to, but think twice before sharing your plans publicly online.

Posting that you're away, checking into a destination, or sharing photos while you're still travelling can unintentionally let others know that your home may be unattended.

Enjoy the trip. Take the photos. Make the memories. But consider sharing them once you're safely back home.

A little privacy can be an important part of protecting your property.

Spring is here, Midlands!

Warmer days, gardens coming back to life, more time outdoors and a little more colour everywhere we look. Spring is a wonderful reminder of just how special our Midlands community is.

As we head into the new season, let’s enjoy our neighbourhoods responsibly, stay aware when we’re out and about, look after our shared spaces, and continue looking out for one another.

Here’s to warmer days, stronger connections and a safe and happy spring for everyone in our community.

Do you know the people who live around you?

Community safety starts long before something goes wrong. Simply knowing your neighbours, recognising the people and vehicles normally in your area, and having a way to communicate can make a real difference.

Introduce yourself. Exchange contact details with neighbours you trust. Join legitimate community communication groups and pay attention to what is happening in your street.

When we know what is normal in our neighbourhood, we're more likely to notice when something isn't.

Know your neighbours. Know your neighbourhood. Build a safer community.
