🦜💚 A LITTLE REMINDER ABOUT OUR FEATHERED HOPE BOXES 💚🦜

It’s been a little while since we’ve spoken about our Feathered Hope Boxes, so we thought it was time for a little reminder!

Our Feathered Hope Boxes were created especially to help support parrot rescues and give rescued birds something fun, enriching and exciting to enjoy while they wait for their forever homes. 🦜

We have two options available:

💚 SMALL FEATHERED HOPE BOX — R300
Suitable for extra-small to small birds, from budgies up to Ringneck size.

💚 LARGE FEATHERED HOPE BOX — R500
Suitable for medium to large parrots.

Each box is packed with a variety of handmade toys, perches and enrichment items to keep busy little beaks entertained.

Blue has been adopted!


Blue the Pionus thankfully wasn’t in foster care too long. We have a wonderful family returning to adopt yet another feathered baby into their home. Blue took some time to adjust but has been doing well.
He eats breakfast with the family but has to get his own bowl otherwise he won’t leave anyone alone 😂
Blue is stepping up well and has been trusting his family more and more.
He loves people and being around his family.

Unfortunately little Cotton passed away last night. 💔

Little Cotton was recently surrendered to Cheeky Beaks due to severe plucking.

📍Gqberha

Cotton must undergo a series of tests to confirm why she is plucking.

We hope that the correct diet, a bigger cage and toys will make a big change, but we are still very concerned about her plucking. She's not just plucking, but also chewing her wing and tail feathers.

We also have approximately 160 birds in our care currently and we would love to buy some supplies for all our foster birds. Toys for enrichment, yummy pellets and healthy seeds as well as decent perches.

We humbly ask for donations towards our rescue as our funds are very low currently.

Zazu Update!
Thank you to everyone who donated towards his vet bill 💚‼️

Zazu has been through a lot, and we wanted to share an update following her recent veterinary assessment.

During her examination, the vets found moderate ulcerative dermatitis on the inside of both wings and ointment build-up. Zazu was placed under general anaesthetic and carefully bathed to remove the ointment, allowing the team to properly assess and treat the damaged skin.

Further investigations included radiographs and blood tests. While her kidney and liver function were normal, X-rays revealed an enlarged cardiac silhouette, raising concerns about possible dilated heart disease. This will require ongoing monitoring and further investigation during her follow-up appointments.

To help her heal, Zazu was fitted with a protective collar to prevent further self-trauma. She was given antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medication, and vitamin supplementation to support skin healing and her immune system.

She has now been discharged with ongoing treatment and regular veterinary check-ups to monitor both her skin healing and heart health.

We know Zazu's recovery will take time, but we are committed to giving her every chance at a comfortable and happy life. Thank you to everyone who has supported her journey so far.
