Midlands Conservancies We inspire, motivate, and challenge our community to conserve KZN Midlands biodiversity.

The Midlands Conservancies Forum (MCF) began in 2010 to share ideas, knowledge and discuss common challenges. Volunteers who care about environmental issues working together will support those who are facing daunting tasks and offer advice to the newer conservancies, too. Learning from one another is a vital component of the forum, as everyone has different experiences to share. If you would like

to contribute, send a message and one of the volunteers will reply as soon as they are back from their walk in the hills.

Conservation in Action with Project Rhino to be given by Carlien Roodt, Director of Project Rhino Alliance NPC. Carlien is an ecologist, and experienced field guide; she served as the Assistant General Manager for Madikwe Conservancy before joining Project Rhino in 2018.

When: Wednesday 12th Nov 2025
Time: 18h00 for 18h30.
Where: Hebron Haven Hotel, Dargle
Cost: R150pp Dargle Conservancy Members, R180pp Non Members for Talk and Meal.
A delicious 2 course dinner will be served afterwards.
Menu: Beef Moussaka and salad or Veg Moussaka.

Frog Presentation and Night Walk for the kids and young at heart with Charlene Russell, Environmental Educator and Wetland Ecologist MSc (Wildlife Science) from Groundtruth.

When: Wednesday 8th October 2025.
Time: 18h00 for 18h30.
Where: Hebron Haven Hotel, Dargle.
Cost: R150pp Dargle Conservancy Members, R180pp Non Members for Talk and Meal. A delicious 2 course dinner will be served afterwards.
Menu: Chicken pot pie and salad or Potato and leak Pie.
Dessert : Malva Pudding with caramel custard

Attend Talk/Walk Only: R50pp DC Members and R80pp Non Members.

*Charlene will give a 20min presentation inside followed by a 30min night walk outside to go hunting for frogs. Please bring a headlamp or torch if doing the night walk, gumboots or water shoes, towel or a change of clothes for over-enthusiastic younger catchers is a good idea!
