What could your business create with a little Christmas spirit?

This December, we’re inviting businesses across Howick and the Midlands to be part of Sunfield Lights 2026!

Create your own Christmas display in the Sunfield gardens, showcase your business and help us bring three evenings of festive magic to our community.

For just R1,000, your business gets a designated display space and access to electricity for all three evenings. You’re also welcome to include your business branding alongside your display.

A big thank you to Howick High School for spending time with our ressies and enjoying a fun game of Bingo together! 🎉

There were opportunities for connection, plenty of excitement and lovely moments shared across the table.

Every December, Sunfield opens its gardens to the community for Sunfield Lights — three evenings filled with Christmas lights, festive displays and community spirit.

It's our way of saying thank you to the wonderful Midlands community for the support shown to Sunfield throughout the year.

There's a little more to it…

The event also helps raise funds for a project that will meet a specific need for one of our Residents.

Every year, we invite local businesses to help us make the gardens shine by creating their own Christmas displays, alongside festive treats, hot chocolate and a visit to the Sunfield Shop.

Today, we celebrate a very special milestone for Nikki, who has been part of the Sunfield family for 𝟰𝟯 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀!🌻

Nikki joined Sunfield in 1982, when she was just 18 years old. Now 61, she has spent more than four decades making memories, building friendships, and being part of a community she calls home.

When Nikki started with us she had a room at Schafer House, and is now a proud resident of De Smidt House.

So, what does Nikki love most about life at Sunfield? ❤️

She loves her contract work and working alongside her workshop facilitators. She treasures the friendships she has made and especially enjoys spending time with her friends. On Friday, she also loves watching DVDs and is delighted by the new buildings and workspaces at Sunfield.

Although Nikki has family living far away, including her brothers in Cape Town and Chicago, video calls help her stay connected, and family visits give them precious time together. 💚

When asked what she would say to someone considering Sunfield for their loved one, Nikki's message is simple:

“𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁.”

Nikki's story is a beautiful reminder that Sunfield is about so much more than a place to live. It's about friendship, meaningful work, new opportunities and belonging to a community where life continues to be filled with purpose.

Congratulations on 43 wonderful years, Nikki! We are so happy you're part of our Sunfield family. 🌻
