Help The Rural Child This creates a win win situation for the communities involved. Our Vision: is to turn otherwise invisible rural children into happy, secure citizens.

Help The Rural Child is a chain of retail charity shops that generates an income to support the programmes that the Goedgedacht Trust run to strengthen and support rural children in the Swartland area. Although Help The Rural Child’s primary focus is supporting children that live in vulnerable rural communities, we reach a wider group of people through our charity shops, as we collect unwanted items in good condition and sell them at affordable prices. Our Mission: To make a sustainable contribution towards rural development from the funds generated by a network of charity shops and other fundraising activities.

📣Sat 10th October - HTRC Shops CLOSED⚠️

Dear Customers, please note that all our HTRC Charity Shops will be closed this Saturday.

We have the wonderful opportunity to celebrate our 20 year birthday anniversary with the teams at the POP Centres which we support through Goedgedacht Trust. 🙌

We are so excited for our HTRC staff to meet the children who are the true beneficiaries of all our hard work and to partake in a celebratory boerie roll with them, their youth leaders and the staff from Goedgedacht who make the vital work with these children happen.💙

We thank you our lovely customers for your understanding, and we look forward to seeing you back in stores as usual from Monday 12th Oct (keep your eyes open 👀- it’s going to be an EXCITING and FUN Friday ahead 😜).

♻️ONE bag of donations = ONE HUNDRED tummies filled 🍴

Did you know, that every bag of donations you generously support us with is helping to feed hundreds of children?🙌

These children arrive at Goedgedacht Trust’s POP Centres every day knowing they'll receive something many of us take for granted… a warm, nutritious meal.

Every donation, purchase and act of support makes this possible. Thank you for helping us nourish young minds and hearts every single day 💙

"I can change a life."

Huge shout out to the wonderful team from @‌VML 🫶🏼 who joined our HTRC mobile bookshop team for a morning of sorting, cleaning, and labeling the second-hand books which VML have kindly donated to our POP Centre Cosy Library Corner Campaign 📚🙌

✨A team building activity with a greater mission:✨
TOGETHER we can MAKE A DIFFERENCE! 💙

With heartfelt thanks to for their support 🤩

What we throw away doesn’t simply disappear… 😢🌍♻️

Choosing to re-use, donate and shop second-hand helps give perfectly good items a longer life, reduces unnecessary waste in the manufacture, transportation and consuming of new items, and makes a more sustainable choice for our planet.

And when you donate to or shop at Help The Rural Child Charity Shops, your pre-loved items can do even more — helping support rural children and their communities.

Small changes in our choices can leave a better footprint 🌱
