Building “a wall on the N2”?

Walls tell stories. They reveal who belongs and who does not.

Debates about the N2 Wall raise questions of safety, inequality, and spatial injustice in Cape Town.

Join our second Brown Bag Series as we unpack the headlines and explore collective responses with community voices.

Bertha House is open and ready to welcome you back.

Thanks for riding out the past few days with us — the coffee is hot, the couches are waiting, and the conversations are long overdue. Swing by for your usual spot, a fresh change of scenery, and the kind of catch-ups that only happen over a really good cup of coffee ☕

We have missed the buzz, the laughs, and all of you. See you soon.

Join us this May at Bertha House for our monthly film screening

And She Didn’t Die is a film that tells the life story of South African writer and resistance fighter Lauretta Ngcobo, as seen through the eyes of her daughter, film director Kethiwe Ngcobo. Lauretta grew up in KwaZulu-Natal, became involved in the struggle against apartheid through her husband AB Ngcobo, leader of the Pan African Congress, and eventually fled to London. In exile, she found the freedom to write—becoming one of the first Black women to gain a literary voice.
