Spring has officially sprung in Observatory - and if you slow down and look around, you’ll find it everywhere. From colourful gardens and blooming flowers to unexpected bursts of floral street art, Obs is putting its own quirky spin on spring.

And keeping all that green looking good takes a little teamwork.

The OBSID cleaning team helps keep Observatory clean, green and cared for, with daily litter removal, bin emptying and hand-weeding. No pesticides are used in common areas.

The neighbourhood is divided into five cleaning zones, with teams also joining forces in busy areas and known hotspots. Cleaning takes place seven days a week, including most public holidays.

OBSID also helps care for Observatory’s green spaces and parks, supporting the day-to-day upkeep of these shared spaces alongside the City’s Parks Department.

And a big thank you to all our residents who add their own splash of colour - tending gardens, brightening up spaces and helping make Observatory the vibrant neighbourhood we love.

From the pavement to the parks, it all adds up to a neighbourhood that’s cleaner, greener and ready for spring.

So next time you’re wandering through Obs, take a moment to stop and smell the flowers - and maybe snap a pic while you’re at it.

There’s no doubt that Obs is Cape Town’s unofficial capital of sustainable style and community vibes. And THIS THURSDAY, 3 September, Lower Main Road is getting even more colourful for Late Night Thrift: Floral Edition.

Expect loud colours, bold prints, vintage fashion and plenty of pre-loved finds as Obs’ thrift shops take the party out onto the pavement. And because a proper Obs night out is never just about shopping, there’ll also be a busker stage, food trucks and local eats, Happy Hour specials, and Fashion Police with advice on where to find your perfect look.

This is an opportunity to not only score some bargains but support the shops, creatives, eateries and local businesses that give Obs its unmistakable character.

So grab your tote, bring your mates and get ready to thrift your way down Lower Main.
