A big thank you to the AfrikaBurn team for organising a community greening of the Village Green 💚

It’s wonderful to see our community coming together to care for and improve the shared spaces that make Observatory special. Every effort to make our neighbourhood greener, more welcoming and more beautiful makes a difference.

Thank you for helping our Village Green grow! 🌱🏡

One of the best things about Obs? The Liesbeek River is right here for us to enjoy...

Whether you’re taking the dog for a stroll, going for a morning walk, spotting birds, enjoying a moment of quiet or simply soaking up some sunshine — there’s a little piece of nature waiting just around the corner 🌿 💚

Look after it, enjoy it, and let’s keep the Liesbeek beautiful for everyone!

📊 Community Perception Survey Results

As part of our recent Community Perception and Service Benchmark Survey, we asked residents and businesses: How, if at all, do CCTV cameras influence your sense of safety in Observatory?

Thank you to everyone who participated in the survey. Your feedback helps us understand community priorities and guides our work to make Observatory an even better place to live, work and visit.

We encourage residents not to hire strangers directly from the street. Instead, choose to hire through reputable NGOs - you’ll ensure a safer, more reliable experience and help someone who’s taken real steps toward stability and success.

Partnering with organisations like Loaves and Fishes helps create fair opportunities, structure, and accountability - a win for everyone ⭐

A healthy neighbourhood is about more than clean streets and safer spaces — it’s also about looking out for the people who live, work and spend time here.

Today, on World Mental Health Day, we’re reminded of the important work our Social Development team does, and of the importance of checking in with ourselves and one another.

A friendly hello, a conversation, a little patience or simply asking someone how they’re doing can make a difference.

Let’s continue building an Observatory where people feel seen, supported and part of the community 💙
