Bits of some big conversations in our last meeting: responding to harmful misinformation including claims that being gay is unnatural, against God or religion, the dreaded question โ€œWhoโ€™s the man in the relationship?โ€ and the role of parents in creating safe spaces for children. ๐Ÿ’œ Reminder: Khumbulani Pride is this Saturday 23 March - check previous posts for details ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€โšง๏ธ

Since the closure of donor-funded clinics in 2025, there have been significant changes in access to gender-affirming care. In response, the Desmond Tutu Health Foundation (DTHF) LGBT+ Health Division, together with partner organisations, has developed two practical info sheets that map available gender-affirming care services across Cape Town, South Africa
๐Ÿ”— bit.ly/4dUsS9x ๐Ÿ‘ˆ Follow this link to find both info sheets:
1) One-pager: Public and NGO providers:https://desmondtutuhealthfoundation.org.za/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Gender-affirming-healthcare-providers-in-Cape-Town_1-Pager_Web-1.pdf
2) Full-length: Public, NGO and Private providers:

Please note: As service availability continues to change, these resources will be regularly updated. Looking ahead, we plan to expand this work beyond Cape Town to cover the broader Western Cape, and to collaborate with partners in other provinces to develop similar resources nationally.

โœจ Human Rights Day โœจ

A world where s*x work is criminalised is a world where human rights are conditional.

Criminalisation doesnโ€™t protect โ€” it exposes us to violence, stigma, and injustice. It denies access to safety, healthcare, and legal protection.

We believe in a future rooted in dignity, safety, and justice for all โ€” no exceptions.

That future requires decriminalisation.

We are looking for volunteers to join the EXPRESSIVE-11 Clinical Trial at the Desmond Tutu Health Foundation J52 Trials unit at Groote Schuur Hospital.

This trial is comparing an investigational trial medication to an approved PrEP medication to assess safety, how the investigational trial medication functions in the body, and any side effects (tolerability).
