It was inspiring to see Raith Foundation creating space to engage with grantees, unpack the realities on the ground, and build collective strategies for change during this 3-day workshop.

These conversations are important in strengthening the fight for justice and the decriminalisation of s*x work.

Yesterday, Asijiki Coalition and SWEAT attended the Department of Justice Budget Speech stakeholder engagement with Minister of and Constitutional Mmamoloko Kubayi and Deputy Minister Andries Nel.

This engagement was an important opportunity to ensure that the voices of s*x workers and marginalized communities are included in discussions about justice, human rights, and law reform in South Africa.

Asijiki Coalition continues to advocate for the full decriminalisation of s*x work and the protection of the health, safety, and dignity of all s*x workers. ✊🏾❤️

📢 ETHICAL JOURNALISM. DIGNITY. RIGHTS. TRUTH.

“At a time when South Africa is being asked to confront the realities of s*x work – not as abstraction, but as lived experience – journalism matters. Not just in what it shows, but how it shows it.

Because when representation overlooks dignity and rights, even if unintentionally, it does more than misrepresent. It reinforces the very conditions that make harm possible.”

Asijiki Coalition welcomes this important reflection on ethical journalism, dignity, and the human rights of s*x workers in South Africa.

S*x workers deserve reporting that centres humanity, safety, dignity, and lived realities — not stigma or voyeurism.
