One of the most life-changing features of a Project Rouj home is something many of us take for granted: an indoor latrine. For many Haitians, especially the elderly, bathing and using the restroom still happens outside.

As Jamalyn's birthday approaches, help us make it rain latrines! 🚽 One latrine costs about $500, so ten friends giving $51 each can provide the dignity, safety, and convenience of an indoor toilet for a family.

We’re growing—and we’re excited to welcome Chris Van Allen as Project Rouj’s new Director of Development.

Chris isn’t new to this work. He previously served on our team in Haiti and already knows the community we serve. Since then, he’s added even more to his toolkit, including two master’s degrees from Indiana University’s O’Neill School. (We love an overachiever.)

For Chris, this isn’t just a new role—it’s a return. A full-circle opportunity to invest his experience back into a community he already knows and loves.

He first traveled to Haiti in high school, and like many who experience the island and its people, he was hooked. Now he’s back—bringing the experience to help take Project Rouj to the next level.
