TALKS, WALKS AND WORKSHOPS filled the air at Butler University, DePauw University, and Hoosier Village in Zionsville during US Poet Laureate Arthur Sze's visit. Arthur shared ideas from his laureate project theme of poetry translation with eager listeners, while holding them spellbound with his poetry during readings. He inspired workshop attendees and also enjoyed wonderful Hoosier weather while engaging with Indiana's landscape and wildlife.

Julie didn't disappoint! The audience was attentive, and Julie invited our regular attendee, Walter, to join her for a reading of one of the poems from her book, which was done excellently by both of them. Our editor, Barry Harris, introduced her and did the presentation honors. The open mic provided readings from regular and new readers, all very well received. A lively beginning to October!

An eight-time Pushcart Prize nominee, Julie L. Moore is the author of five poetry collections, including Devil’s Backbone, published in June by Wildhouse Publishing. John was gracious with his time as he answered the audience's questions after his reading. Since John had not been with us in a while, the audience was eager to explore how he combined his poetry with his wonderful work in Africa. It was an enjoyable night.
