Fisher House is more than a place to stay. It’s a place where military and veteran families can be together when being together matters most.

Located near VA and military medical centers, Fisher Houses provide no-cost lodging for families while their loved ones receive care, helping ease the financial burden.

Inside each Fisher House, families have a private bedroom and share welcoming spaces like kitchens, dining areas, laundry facilities, and living rooms. What truly makes a Fisher House a home is the community, comfort, and connection families find there.

Since 1990, Fisher Houses have supported hundreds of thousands of military and veteran families, helping them stay close through some of life’s most challenging moments.

Once again our friends at Amazon Kiln in Wilmington have gifted our houses with products to stock our kitchens, laundry rooms, and all manner of cleaning products! Shari Hall is such a blessing, always ready to coordinate these donations, and it is always a special treat to head out in a big box truck with Tim Adkins. Not only does he take care of everything at our WPAFB houses, he is always ready to be the driver of the truck, and the expert on how to masterfully fit all those pallets into it! This donation will benefit our guests in so many ways. We are grateful.

Today ended with another gift to bless our work. Our friends from the Fairborn Moose Lodge 1068 have been loyal supporters of FNHI for years, and great friends that not only raise funds but also awareness about the resource available for our military men and women during times of medical need through the Fisher Houses. Thank you Betty L Vance Quigley and all of the amazing people that are the Fairborn Moose Lodge 1068! We are grateful.

This beautiful day the Beavercreek Golf Club hosted the Radiance Technologies, Inc. annual golf outing. Once again, Radiance Technologies has pledged their proceeds to support our work at FNHI. Organizations like this, who support us faithfully year after year make such a profound impact for our military men and women during times of medical need. We are truly grateful. Special thanks to Jess Fouts who works tirelessly with her team to make everything happen so seamlessly.

Forever grateful for this visionary couple.

On this day in 1910, a builder was born who would go on to change what it means to care for military families.

Zachary Fisher didn't just build buildings; he built homes, places where a family could be near a hospital and not have to worry about where to stay. He and his wife, Elizabeth, believed in honoring service and family.

Zachary said it best:

"I look back, and I know that we have made a difference in someone's life. I look forward and feel certain that we will be making meaningful changes in many lives."

Today, we honor Zachary and Elizabeth Fisher for their patriotism, their generosity, and their vision, which will still provide a home away from home for years to come.

NOTICE OF ELECTIONS

In accordance with the By-Laws of the Fisher/Nightingale Houses, Inc., the Executive Board is holding elections in November 2026 for positions that start a two-year term on January 1st, 2027. Positions open this year include the President, Secretary, 2nd Trustee-at-Large, 4th Trustee-at-Large, and 6th Trustee-at-Large. Anyone interested in running for any of these positions should contact the Fisher/Nightingale Houses, Inc. Vice President, Larry Johnson at [email protected] no later than October 31st, 2026 (resumes required). Elections will be finalized by November 23rd, 2026.

The Fisher/Nightingale Houses, Inc. is a private non-profit, 501(c)3 organization. Our mission is to raise funds to support compassionate care lodging for active military and veteran patients and their families receiving critical medical treatment.
