Last week, the Rhode Island legislature passed a budget bill that maintained funding for energy efficiency in the face of proposed cuts. This recommitment is a positive sign and runs counter to a troubling regional trend: cutting funding for energy efficiency in the name of reducing utility bills.
The reality is that energy efficiency is one of the most effective tools we have for affordability. Wellβdesigned programs lower bills immediately and continue delivering savings year after year.
