Last week, the Rhode Island legislature passed a budget bill that maintained funding for energy efficiency in the face of proposed cuts. This recommitment is a positive sign and runs counter to a troubling regional trend: cutting funding for energy efficiency in the name of reducing utility bills.

The reality is that energy efficiency is one of the most effective tools we have for affordability. Well‑designed programs lower bills immediately and continue delivering savings year after year. Exciting opportunity for Summit attendees: Green & Healthy Homes Initiative is inviting a small group of visitors to tour the site of a fully-electrified home in Northeast Baltimore tomorrow at 9:30am. The home was served through GHHI's Whole House program leveraging state low-income energy efficiency programs with additional funds for health, safety, rehabilitation, and aging in place.
