NEW AT STATE AVE VETERINARY HOSPITAL: TRAP-NEUTER-RETURN PROGRAM!

Starting November 1st 2026, State Ave Veterinary Hospital will be offering a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program to help make a difference for the stray, feral, and community cats in our area!

Community cats deserve a chance at healthier lives, too. By spaying and neutering free-roaming cats, we can help reduce unwanted litters, improve community cat welfare, and make a positive impact on our local community.

How does TNR work?
🐾 Trap: Humanely trap or safely contain an unowned, free-roaming cat.
🐾 Neuter: Eligible cats receive discounted spay or neuter services, a rabies vaccination, a permanent ear tip, and a sterilization tattoo.
🐾 Return: Once recovered and medically ready, the cat is returned to the location where they were originally found.

A few important things to know:
• This program is specifically for unowned stray, feral, and community cats intended to return to their outdoor environment.
• Cats must arrive in a secure humane trap or a carrier approved by our hospital.
• Ear tipping, sterilization tattooing, and rabies vaccination are required parts of the program.
• Additional medical care, diagnostics, or treatment may involve additional charges.
• Participation depends on eligibility, staffing, safety, and hospital availability.

We know community cats are a part of our neighborhoods, and we're excited to offer another way to help care for them while addressing the growing population of free-roaming cats.

Dropped off 2 female cats at Humane Society for Southwest Washington for CCP appointments. These two cats are the moms of the kittens we recently posted. They have had their Last Litters! 💪 Yaasss!
There are so many kittens being posted online. They are literally EVERYWHERE! Since we are unable to accept more kittens, whenever we see these posts and immediately think of the Momma cat. Is she still around? Perhaps a family pet? Or a new stray that found a new feeding spot? We will try to get Mom spayed if they are local. Of course, we need to be able to acquire spay appointments.
At least these 2 cats won't have any more kittens...especially with winter coming.❤️
There are more resources on the horizon for our communities. Now we just need to make the idea of spaying/neutering cats commonplace. We often hear people say that they won't spend money on their "ferals"....💔 That needs to change because as our feral (which DOES include stray and abandoned cats) populations increase, so does the hatred towards them. It's unfair and leads to cruelty towards them; both directly and indirectly.
Let's be advocates for our outdoor cats. Spay and neuter EVERYONE!

Oy Vey!!!
More kittens...
People want to help; sometimes they just don't know what to do. These 4 kittens were found in a crawl space crying loudly. There were 2 others that already passed.💔
It's obvious we can't "fix" this problem. Despite every local rescue, transporting cats to Renton or Seattle....or Mason county...or Pasados...there is no light at the end of the tunnel.
How? Why?
Too many cats. Period.
We are up against a tremendous task. No one imagined this situation. It's not a simple solution. We need people who are willing to on their own time. Spending their own monies for fuel and time.
LOTS of people! Communities! This situation is not going away!
We can only succeed with many hands involved.
Please consider in YOUR neighborhood. Find a neighbor who cares about cats and make a plan. Ask for spay/neuter options from rescues already doing the work. WE WANT TO HELP!
Rescue encompasses so many requests for help. We can't realistically help everyone. This is serious.

So...let me preface...We all hate, Hate, HATE spay abort! And this situation happens alot...it's situations like these that make rescue so challenging. We are just here for the cats.

Kitten season is still plowing through our county. Sadly, we have several older kittens that need long term socialization. Since we started their journey, we are not planning to them. They are progressing....slowly.😞 And it's ok...we are so happy they are here.
But...they..eat..ALOT!! 🙃
One litter of kittens eats 6 cans of Fancy Feast kitten pate per day.😭 We need help with food...desperately.

We are supporting several residents who are fostering their own unexpected kittens. But these will be their Last Litters! Yay! 💪

Marshall, our handsome "foster". He really needs to find a home. He LOVES other cats (even if they don't like him). He's quirky and sweet. He needs a patient home since he will need deliberate acclimation in his future home. But the effort will be so worthwhile.
We love this silly boy.🤎🤍 (Yes, he's eartipped because we thought he was feral).
