Today is International Overdose Awareness Day. ๐ฆ
Substance use and grief are often deeply connected. The loss of a loved one can increase the risk of substance use, while substance use can make it more difficult to process grief and may contribute to complicated grief. Recognizing this intersection helps us reduce stigma, foster understanding, and connect people with support when they need it most.
At Blue Ridge Care, we know that grief following an overdose or substance-related death can be especially complex. Through our grief support services, we're here to provide compassionate care, resources, and connection for individuals and families navigating loss.
Today, we remember those who have died, support those who are grieving, and encourage open conversations about substance use, recovery, and mental health.
If you or someone you know is grieving the loss of a loved one, support is available through the Center for Hope & Healing. Contact our grief support team at (540) 313-9275 or [email protected].
